10 ball rule

I have a combo on the 10 ball. If I play the combo and the 10 goes in what is the rule.
Playing WPA rules the 10b has to go last. Playing old-school 10b you win. I like the WPA rules except for this scenario. I think you should be able to carom/combo the 10b for a win. That's how we usually play it.

That is probably the least popular 10 ball rule. It has been added fairly recently. 10 ball was intended to remove some of the luck you see in 9-ball, and that goes a little farther towards that goal, so it fits with the intent but I understand why some don't like it.

Since 10B was created to eliminate the slop then a slopped 10B should get pulled up, a called (carom, combo, etc.) 10B should stay down.

That being said - I prefer 10B last on the table and if you miss your called shot your opponent can give it back. I would get rid of the 10B last rule before I got rid of the missed ball rule.

Does the rule apply to every tournament? I was told by a friend that the US Open 10 ball tournament did not use the rule.

In the US there may be three different rule sets for 10 ball in five tournaments. On the other hand, you see the same problem with the break shot requirements at nine ball. About 20 different variants exist.

I see this rule setup as follows: Normal play, 10 ball combo is a win. When someone loses that way on an early combo they complain and if they are annoying enough the tournament changes the rule to 10 ball last LOL. Most events I play in, early 10 on a called shot is a win, when I play with others I use the same rule.

As said earlier i like the WPA 10b rules EXCEPT for this one. I think LEGAL combo's/carom's add some spice to the game. I think just playing by regular 9b rules with maybe a call-the-10b rule would be fine also.
