You don't think I'm honest? Sorry to disappoint you. Yes, lots of forum dwellers stir the $hit and say lots of crazy things. I don't have the time to play games like that. Whether you believe me or not. Not that believing me means a hill of beans to you, or anyone else, cuz I'm a nobody, right?

And three or four months can be brief, and a blink of the eye. Or, in forums like this, it can be a long time...especially if you're going back that far for comments to reply to. But if thats entertaining for you, more power to ya. Having a debate (or argument, or what have you) and getting into the debate four months later...its...not very timely.

forum posting is like reporting the score of a match at a tournament.

Some people know how to tell a story with it, others are different.

what shocks me is the lack of issuing a public challenge.

Like JS can say hey if some can beat his score he will support it. The pool community is so small. He can even break it down into smaller challenges and that would be his thing when he goes on the road.

As for the support squad on the forum thats how cults are formed.

i dont want to be part of the secret AZ cult. are you?

I am just re telling the story for this generation or those that haven't heard or seen the amazing abilities of the magic cue shots for my magic routine.

NYTIMES promotion is known to pay off huge returns. You will have to ask JS.

If the 626 was approved by Guinness World Records there would be no issue.

But it was not. That is why I support Dan's argument.

The straight-pool high-run record is sanctioned by the BCA. The BCA sanctioned Willie Mosconi's 526. The BCA sanctioned John Schmidt's 626.

Danny Harriman's "argument" is that John Schmidt has made a fraudulent claim. Danny also alleges (repeatedly) that Schmidt was joined in this fraud by Charlie Williams, the pool room owner, the witnesses to the event, the BCA, Predator Cues, as well as prominent billiard players like Bob Jewett, Mark Wilson, Nick Varner, Freddie Agnir and others.

Which parts of Danny's "argument" are you supporting? Do you think Schmidt committed fraud? Do you think the BCA or Predator cues committed fraud? Do you think Jewett, Wilson, et. al. committed fraud?

Danny argues for independent verification of the record by a third party.
I endorse Guinness as that independent party.

Here are the billiard records sanctioned by guinness, it does not include a straight pool high run.

There are many snooker runs and zero straight pool runs.

The BCA is a billiard industry organization.
The Billiard Congress of America was established in 1948, with early involvement by players like Willie Mosconi and Willie Hoppe. The objective was to organize the players and promote the sport through qualifying tournaments at the local, regional and national levels in Straight Pool and 3-Cushion billiards (the popular competitive disciplines of the era) and recognize those champions. Organizers were also determined to produce an official rulebook to standardize the sport and help fund the effort; and to involve billiard rooms, retailers and manufacturers in meeting these promotional goals.

An organization that promotes a sport and maintains official records is a conflict of interest.

I love all the BCA has done and is doing.

But in the case I side with Dan.
