Same here. I'm math-impaired, but to do the math on Loriders case, he has 11 wins x 2 points (minimum), at least 22 points. The guy he's tied with has 4 wins x 3 points (max) = 12.
That's how I figured it too. But, as said above, his League operator may do things differently. But on the other hand, I would think you would need to play more than 7 out of 14 weeks to get MVP. Players here have to have played at least half the weeks possible. 6, 7 or 8 matches, depending on the calendar during any given session.

I just don’t understand what you were asking. About the CSI tourney in Tucson? I did very well, thanks for asking. Maybe won more than anyone else if you count all the tournaments.
That is stupid as hell. As a 7/9, when I would play 9 ball I was limited on the number of weeks I could play. It’s 4 weeks for the mvp standings eligibility, set by the head office for a reason.

The point, I believe, is partially to keep people from ducking and not playing, once they've gotten to the top of the leaderboard. Many, many times players at the top will look at the numbers and calculate whether they need to play, or whether they don't need to play, in order to win the award. If we included people who only played 4 matches, the award would always go to a 7/9. Every session.
Except that’s now how things work. There are 3 tiers in 8 ball, 4 tiers in 9 ball. Each tier gets their 4 MVP’s for the session qualified for the MVP tourney. And you don’t understand my point. My team, for 9 ball consisted of a 3/3/4/4/6/7/7/9 SL’s. In order for the other players to get weeks, I’m literally limited to barely getting weeks as is. If an area institutes that I must play almost 50% of the matches for a session, then someone isn’t going to be qualified somewhere. Meaning that rule to ‘prevent’ ducking is actually fucking players like me.

That same strategy is applied to quite a few different professional sports as is and shouldn’t be seen as something bad. Players who can’t accept how it is are the same people wanting participation trophies.
Well, to follow that logic, only requiring 4 matches is penalizing the players who actually do participate, and contribute to their teams success, by winning more frequently.
I think they had 198 players sign up for the singles 8-ball, divided into two divisions. Not too "dinky" for a tournament that starts on a Thursday morning. Is there a bigger one in the state?
