If you don't get an authoritative answer (as opposed to a well-intended guess), you can easily ask him directly here:What year did Shane Van Boening switch to the carbon shaft?
I wouldn't want to put it on his social media page because he is making a lot from sponsorships but curious as to championships won relative to when he made the switch. If you don't get an authoritative answer (as opposed to a well-intended guess), you can easily ask him directly here:

If he doesn't reply -- for any apparent reason -- it would likely mean that a present-day sponsor conflict would understandably arise if he offered relevant details about his decision at the time of the switch.

When they paid him enough to switch. What year did Shane Van Boening switch to the carbon shaft?
I think when I first saw him play he was using his Mom's Schon with a different shaft. I'm sure the current sponsor pays more than Mom.When they paid him enough to switch.
Funny, and could be true. When they paid him enough to switch.
It’s in the contract. They are treating him very well and I’m glad as he has earned it. I’m certain their ROI on his deal and ad spend is good as well. Nice to see something in pool actually work. I have no comment about the product, that’s not the discussion. When they paid him enough to switch.
I've never met Shane but I'm a fan. I hear people say he is losing money in the casinos. If I was close to him I would have a talk with him about playing the casino's games. Dice etc. It’s in the contract. They are treating him very well and I’m glad as he has earned it. I’m certain their ROI on his deal and ad spend is good as well. He ain’t going crazy in casinos like some pool players. After living in Vegas all those years I can spot the sick ones real fast. And forget counting 21 anymore. Rule changes in that game have made it impossible to break even let alone win. Winning in casinos is a thing of the past(another topic). He knows casinos are a losing prop-we have talked about that before-several times probably first in 07 or 08 when he was very young.I've never met Shane but I'm a fan. If Shane played me in pool he would consider me a banger. When he plays those casino games the pit boss considers him a banger. Those games are rigged in favor of the house. Unless you are counting cards in blackjack - and that's hard to do with casinos using 6 decks - you are not going to win money over the long haul.
Somebody close to him needs to talk to him about that. If he would save his winnings in pool he could live comfortably for the rest of his life. 300 acres in Platte goes for around a million. Guaranteed income for life. Rent it out if you don't want to farm.
As much as SVB seems to enjoy fishing I would guess that he has a pretty nice boat.He ain’t going crazy in casinos like some pool players. He has his future secured very nicely. Some smart investments he has been making over the years, he’s not a degenerate. I’ve watched him build it up over the last 13-14 years. Smart moves. And he also buys a few toys and has fun with them. Good balanced approach to life outside of work-which is good so when he is working he has a clear mind, he’s not a troubled gambler who gets distracted gambling and plays worse as a result. Don’t worry about SVB-he has it handled very well. He’s grown into his success and kept a level head.
I can’t go into detail about anything. I respect his privacy. Just know he’s fine and when he retires he will be just fine. He knows there’s no pension plan for old pool players.

He just got a new one 4 months ago give or take. It’s amazing. He loves ice fishing too. He’s good too, I’ve seen some of the pics of the fish he catches, he might be better at fishing than pool!!! He has his act together outside pool for sure. I really respect him and the decisions he’s made. His work ethic is solid. As much as SVB seems to enjoy fishing I would guess that he has a pretty nice boat.
That’s exactly why I only said what I said. Putting biz in the street in any my thing. However in his case he isn’t a big vice guy, never has been. Neither am I. Not perfect nobody is. But SVB smart guy, good discipline. So there really ain’t much to talk about. Fishing & pool lol. What a lifeEveryone has their vices. And to be quite Frank it's of nobody's business here on AZ.
