SVB to Kick Off High Run Attempts

One thing to remember about this sort of organized attempt is that if your goal is to run 500, for example, you will have about eight runs over 300 (on average) before you hit a 500. I imagine it would be frustrating to miss eight times after 300 but not get to the goal. I have to imagine it since I'll never actually see 300. ;)

JS has way more than 8+ 300 ball runs, as well as several 400+ runs, before he finally crossed the 500+ mark, and still to this day, has only crossed 500+ balls once, in his whole career of playing 14.1.

Is Shane done for tonight?

Edit: He is.

(Don't mind me, just talking to myself)

I have no reason to lie.

All of that “team” stuff was in your head.

Maybe you do, maybe you don't. But if it's true then you have a reason to deny it. Seeing as how I am not willing to out my source I guess it goes into the the maybe so maybe not category. Also you might not have been informed of all the moves your backer was making.

Doesn't matter now anyway. We are discussing 14.1 and your current boss's attempt to have someone break John Schmidt's record.

How is that going by the way? Did I lose $20 today through Shane beating his 257 from day one?

Where is the pr guy to tell us today's results? I (should) get out of this thread so he can do his job without distraction.

I think this is so DAWGONE AWESOME! To have the opportunity to watch the best player we have to offer in the U.S. of A., step up to the table and bring his best, in a game that I wish would get more play.

Instead of a big money race to 150 in 9- ball, I would love to see the premiere shooters of today play a race to 1500 in 14.1 over 3 days...

One thing that always boggles my mind about 14.1 is, “How gdo you play a proper safety when balls are spread in each quarter of the table and anything is in play?” That is one aspect of this great game we can’t experience while watching high run attempts.

Irregardless, I love seeing how a world class player approaches the last half dozen shots of each rack and the preferred break angles...

Dude lost all credibility(as if he hadn't already) when he said Shane is the best straight pool player in America. What a joke
I was wondering the same thing, but to be honest I can’t name 5 other straight pool players. There’s JS, Ray and then…? This is really cool to watch how a pro goes about his business. I was getting frustrated for him when he missed, but Shane just seemed to go right back to it without really flinching. I wonder if this is how JS went about it- meaning after a miss just racked ‘em uo and started another run. I would have to take a five minute break and settle down a bit, but then again that’s just one of the many reasons why I can barely run 50.

Harriman - not sure if he still plays

That is what John did for the most part. 200+ ball run and miss… racked them and right back at it. Obviously more frustration when he missed the times he was at 400+.

I didn't listen to much, had it on mute most of the time. I did hear him say Shane is the best American player for the past 15 years and I took that to mean in general not specifically 14.1. However, one would think that since Bobby is holding a 14.1 high run contest that he would mention the current world record holder in that particular activity, American John Schmidt, at 626.

Be careful whom you believe.

Very good advice. Hard to trust a person who is a "public relations" professional. That sort of person has to tread carefully with what they say. They likely know secrets and behind the scene manipulations that they can't divulge because of the likely negative response from the public.

I would be very distrustful of believing the words of such a person.

Fortunately for the forum the record of comments over various threads is there for anyone to verify themselves.

Newcomers to this topic of 14.1 high runs can easily verify why the promoter is getting mildly rebuked for deliberately snubbing the current world record holder John Schmidt.
