I want to purchase pool instruction in Seattle/South King County

I have emailed and texted two people from playbetterbilliards.com. Neither have responded.
You can walk into a hall that has leagues and they can normally at least point you in the right direction. Well probably any good hall can tell you. How is your current shot? That would be good to know. Are you bad, medium, good? Looking to go pro?

*edit* the reason I ask about your level is if you are in the bad to medium range almost every hall has a better player willing to get you better for a little incentive during slow hours. Or the owner has someone’s number willing to. There were 1-2 that weren’t instructors, but helped/taught people at both the halls near my house.

One problem in finding a teacher is does your personality, and your mix. What can they teach you that you can not learn from reading a book? Watching a DVD, or U-tube?

In 2021 that is so much instructional material in print, on DVDs, and U-tube I am surprise there are not more great players.

Reason there are not is people read, view something once, missing or not remember 90% of what they just learned.

Also people hate this simple repetitive task to build mussel memory call practice. Most people hate practicing, playing is not quality practicing.

Buy DVD’s, and practice.
Yeah, I get that, and I would be better if I practiced more, but I'm looking for the sort of help that I think is only possible in one on one instruction.

Specifically I feel I need help with my stroke. It's an issue that I just can't figure out how to correct.

I think I'm somewhere between bad to medium. I can make some shots, some banks and some thin cuts, but my position play is very, very bad. Obviously most people at the pool hall are better than me, but I'm not just looking for a better player, I'm looking for a good teacher.

If you do the exact opposite of what he proposed every time, you come out winner in the end.

I don't know the exact history of this poster on the forum, I've only been following it religiously for four months or so, but you guys are really, really hard on CocoboloCowboy.

I think the fact he can tolerate all the abuse says positive things about his character.

Well sounds like cobra has you covered. If that doesn’t work out.

It sounds like you struggle because at your speed you are still focusing on making balls. Take my advice with a grain of salt. That advice would be if you can’t make the first ball, who cares about position on the next one?

What I was trying to say on original response is they won’t necessarily set you up with their house shooter. They are more than likely to set you up with either an instructor, or a guy with a job other than pool, who loves pool, has knowledge, and enjoys helping other players out when not at his day job.

Thanks for liking it guillotine. Now I’m gonna get you up 50 balls for the like on it.
#2 This going to be the boring part of pool for you. Maybe the most boring part. Step #1 is make the ball. Step #2 Is when you get bad position after making the first ball play a safety. Not only will it piss off your opponent but you’ll also win more.

Like I said take it with a grain of salt.

*edit* once you can make the bad position shots move on to step #3 which your instructor will help you on. I’m all for pool instruction. If I would’ve had an instructor I would have been better sooner for sure.
Well there’s a few steps in the in between but whatever

I can always make the first one. This makes a lot of sense. I need to work on safeties.

I played in an 8 ball tournament yesterday. I remember what you said that 8 ball is a shot makers game. I am a shot maker. I did better in the tournament than I did a few months ago. And had a lot of fun.

Dan or Rich are good options.

Also Kim or Dave at the golden fleece in Everett.
Bit of a drive for me but I would be willing to if I felt our personalities would fit better. Realkingcobra and I spoke on the phone for half an hour or so and I think he helped me more in that phone call than anything else in I don't know how long. Literally told me things I've never read in any books, and I've read a lot of books.

Please don’t get me started! Lolol

It’s great that you did better this time around. Keep up the good work! When you put in effort you can always find someone to help you out. The guys on here help me out every time they tell me I’m wrong. I don’t need advice anymore I need purpose. Fuel for the lone wolf’s fire!
