The Legendary Pearl to Take On 14.1 Attempts

Not making excuses for him but I think it's a way of releasing frustration and getting it out of his system. Some people keep it inside.
It’s also a mechanism to keep your confidence up. If it’s the table, AC, chalk, etc… then you are still playing good. If you are hitting poor shots (or admitting it to yourself that you are) then YOU are off and that hits your confidence.

Some players keep their confidence high like that. I think it’s better long term to recognize you are off and do the right things to get yourself on again. But I’m not a world champ.

Last night was cool to see Earl play. The pace at which he plays is crazy and good for TV. However sometimes I think his pace of play might get him in trouble. It seemed the later it went and the more times Earl needed to start again, the more he got frustrated. As we all know, one needs to be really focused when doing high runs like this. One small positional mistake can make the difference. That is why I personally don't think Earl is going to run anything really high unless he does it in his first couple attempts. Interesting enough someone last night made the same observation and correctly guessed that Earl wouldn't go past 200. Also interesting was that comment was taken down. Don't understand why. It was an accurate observation that most of us saw. If Earl can keep it together and maybe get a roll here or there, he can absolutely put together a high run. I will be tuning in tonight to see what he does.
He runs racks so fast that he can get back over 100 very rapidly even after he screws up.

I didn't watch all of his runs yesterday, but it seems like he improved as time went by- meaning he was able to overcome his frustration to an extent.

All they need is 9 pennies and 5 dimes to keep track.

Slide a penny each rack to the side rail, when you get to 10 put a dime there and take the pennies back and start using them again.

Run ends in the 7th rack. He had 4 balls bunched up near the left side that he couldn't make into the left corner pocket. After bumping one of the balls out of there, he ended up with the CB low on the table and missed a long shot into the upper right corner pocket.

What a break (8th rack)! He's been struggling, but he is still alive.

The break ball was on the long rail above the left side pocket, and he left the CB with a slight angle to the rail. He made the brake ball in the upper left corner pocket and drew the CB into the rack.

Now the bank! Then he dribbles the next one down the long rail into the upper right corner pocket. Now he comes with, "The balls are sticking."

In the 9th rack now.

10th rack break: "No way I am following this ball(the break ball). Backspin." Then he proceeds to almost scratch in the upper left hand corner pocket.

Nice 3 rail leave on the break ball. Earl isn't chirping about anything at the moment.

10 th and 9 th racks he's rebroke the stack very nicely

What a shot to clean up rack 10 and be on the break ball

Playing super good , lots of fun to watch
