The Legendary Pearl to Take On 14.1 Attempts

So I guess what you're trying to say is that he doesn't know much about playing straight pool. Also, none of your points has anything to do with needing time to adjust to the conditions.

Actually, Earl was told much of this today and said he knew all that stuff, so go figure.

I had buddy of mine in Germany order a McDermott from me with a
15mm shaft, back in 1980, Timm Perkins was one of the best players in Europe back then, and he played the hell out of 14.1, that was his reasoning for the 15mm shaft, so whats YOUR explanation?

My explanation is called 'physics' and hitting closer to center always produces less spin, not more. Larger diameter shafts don't increase contact area. More contact area probably doesn't equate to more spin.

His previous inning ended at about 75 when he went into a small cluster at high speed and ended on the head rail. No precision on the break.

I don't believe anyone of us could tell Earl anything about any pool game that he doesn't already know.

Personally, I believe it's just really hard to always shoot the right shot in straight pool without getting bored. Even I have that problem (and I ain't no Earl Strickland). About once a month I go into the basement with the mindset to put a nice run together. I get the rack open and invariably my brain kind of goes into cruise control. I believe my unconscious is saying "there's no way on God's green earth you could screw this rack up so don't bother walking to the other side of the table, or stretching for that shot, just shoot a different one". Moreover, simply because I enjoy the game so much, I say to myself "just for the fun of it, try to spin between those two balls, or shoot that thin cut shot"...it doesn't matter, I play good enough to do that and then get back in line anytime I want". Of course, then I end up running 12 balls rather than 70 I think I'm capable of running.

What Lou is unmistakably (and accurately) conveying is that Earl either doesn't know, or agree with enough about time-tested basics for hyper-long 14.1 runs.

Misses the break shot at 56 -- ball does not hit any part of the pocket.

No normal break shot at 14 -- does not try a circus shot.

No end pattern, misses on slow-roller key ball, 27

I asked in chat, but I'll post it here.
Do the sponsorship ads in the upper right have to run constantly?
They take away from the playing and the eye wants to leave the playing surface.
There are 21 ads.

I appreciate the stream, just a question.

Maybe paste a little paper triangle over that part of the screen? I think the answer to your question is that the ads will continue to run.

I like his tennis sweat wrist bands!

One thing I find interesting about Earls game is his stance; very “squatty” with tons of knee flex…

i think he always had that. maybe that it used to be wider, but it was always bent knees. shane does the same, as does snooker players kyren wilson and ricky walden.

Yeah, for sure & concur on SVB also. Didn’t mean to imply it was a new thing. The more fluid, athletic stance is just so different from much of the classic oriented stances and seems more pronounced when watching him play non stop 14.1…
