The Legendary Pearl to Take On 14.1 Attempts

A lot of Shane's runs ended because he was hitting the break too hard and caused him to scratch. I see a lot of Earl's runs ending because he hits them to soft, and gets stuck in the rack leaving himself with very few options.

He kicked it in. I also swear I heard him call the corner.
Wow, fooled me! I rewinded it and still thought he banked it.

He was calling a thin hit in the corner. He hit it "too thin" (missed it entirely), and kicked it in from behind in the side.

Some of you, who don't know a whole lot about straight pool, may not see what Earl is doing wrong. Maybe you think, what's to criticize, he's running lots of balls? In a straight pool rack, the process after the break shot is 1. Clear the pockets, 2. Solve problems (clusters etc) 3, clean up balls on rails, stragglers up-table etc 4. End pattern, 5 break shot. Earl is often not completing step 3, he's leaving chaotic situations and not making a plan for step 4 which is the end pattern (last 4-5 balls). Quite frequently his last 4-5 balls are in the middle table above the rack area. This is generally not a favorable area for your balls to be. Sure, they are open to multiple pockets, but they are further away from the pockets, demanding good position shots to get on them right. As a result, he has to execute every single time, rather than having 5 stop shots at the end, he has to spin the ball all around or play pin-point position into open space. Even Earl, as GREAT of a player as he is, can't keep that up for 500+ balls. Nobody can.

Right now, it's taken him 2 days just to cross the 200+ line, and not in the same day😅

How many times did Shane and Ruslan run over 200+ balls by this time??

What is this, day 4 or 5 now, and so far Earl has a 200+ with split days.

I would love to see Earl go beyond 626, and mainly to top JS.
Even though I've bet my neighbor a few bucks it doesn't happen, that's NOT to say I don't like Earl,
I just think Earl gets miffed too easily at this particular game.
It might make a difference if an opponent was sitting in a chair across from him.
He is a great player and I do enjoy watching him play at whatever game.

And the run ended. This is painful to me. Earl is an AMAZING player, but he's doing everything backwards. If you're new to straight pool watch the racks with the 5 steps in mind and you'll see why it is so difficult when you don't do them right. I think he'll work it out eventually, at least I hope so.
