Eagle Eye Takes Aim at 14.1 High Runs

I’m not sure what you’re point is. They said he’s a Russian snooker player. Boiko is in a former Soviet state.

Are you suggesting a maxi is easier than a 300 ball run? I tell you what, we’ll each pot 20 straight long pots off the blue spot, me on a pool table, you on a snooker table. I’ll put $10k up that I pot more than you do. I’ve run hundreds in snooker, billiards (on actual snooker tables, not 10 foot square cuts) and 14.1. From what position of authority are you able to compare the two sports?

And I thought he was 21, not 12. I’m not sure how old Boiko is now, but there are videos of him at 15.

I don’t even know what the f*&^ you’re talking about. All I did was suggest a possible young snooker player from that part of the world that may have been the player they were referring to.
Gotcha. They mighta been pulling his leg but one of the guest commentators mentioned several times the 12 yr old Russian kid with a recent 360 and 400. Sounds out there dunnit?

Guys I havent heard back from anyone and to be honest as you all know ive been really busy the past week. Others have said they heard also so hopefully someone finds out. Im sure it wasnt a 12 year ol though. So anyways how are you all enjoying the event so far?

Was that you in the Turning Stone booth? Enjoyed the commentary, lot of insightful points.

Ahhh, sorry. I wasn’t sure what you were getting at. Sorry, I have a couple of
Bourbons under my belt (thus the new Diamond Dave video I just posted, he’s my slightly drunk YouTube persona).

Yes, I would freak the fuck out if I saw a 12 year old run 300, and I’d probably break all my cues 🤣

I assumed he was referring to Ruslan (who isn't 12 but is under 50) and had a great run at Bobby's event?

I’ve loved watching every guest you’ve had so far, and I know the numbers aren’t huge compared to other popular streaming categories, but I was really pleased to see the viewers hit 700ish last night. Well done!!!

Is Jayson coming in today? I have the Masters snooker running, just need some 14.1 to side by side :)

I didn't have the chance to watch Shane, but I did watch about 1/4 of Ruslan, 1/3rd of Earl and about 1/2 of Shaw. It was super exciting to me watching these players. Super fast and exciting. Last night I had 3 live streams to choose from, Efren, CSI 10 ball, and Shaw. I found watching Shaw was way more interesting and turned off the other two streams.

Don't ever get rid of the score counter. There was an old straight pool match just posted of Zuglan vs Grady, and it had no score counter. Its completely unwatchable due to that, for me. Same thing with the Efren match. The coin was impossible to see. Makes the match not even worth watching.

very enjoyable, thanks. what's your tip for a jayson high run given what you saw yesterday? 400 does not seem out of reach

I did not watch much of it, but impressive results from day 1. It did seem like every time I watched he'd do a pretty impressive orchestration of a break ball when a good one was not there. I guess I am shit at straight pool as everyone seems to disagree, but I did not think his patterns were terrible. I also thought his control was great too. His quick shotmaking goes without saying as that was a given.

From break shots, to patterns, to hitting shots a hundred miles an hour that should just be rolled in. Forget stop, stop ,stop position play, his cue all may cover more then a dozen yards in just one rack.

His endgame looked a lot better towards the end of the day then it did when I was first watching in the morning.

Once these super aggressive rotation players get burned a couple times they will start honing in on better strategies for the end of the rack, and for the rest of the game for that matter.

Shaw may have some bad racks/decisions now and then but that is part and parcel of his fast play. The flipside to that is he will rip through the first 100 balls in seemingly just a few minutes and give himself more chances for a high run. Bob Jewett has talked about how Schmidt would play like this in his long run efforts as well.

Have any of the players asked you for advice/strategy? Not during the shooting but maybe at dinner, etc?

Edit: Have you discussed strategy regardless of who initiated?

Great question, I'm very curious also.
Loving the stream, thank you so much for putting it out there.

i was wondering this myself, particularly when Earl was playing. i was curious if he would be receptive to any suggestions or just shrug them off, and now watching shaw play he clearly has "his way" of playing straight pool that works extremely well for him. its non conventional but you don't get to 344 on shot making alone. he clearly hasn't played a boat load of 14.1 but he knows the game well enough that if he were to expand his knowledge by even a fraction we might see some absurd numbers.

by the way i still haven't gotten out of the first rack in my high run attempts so take everything i say with a grain of salt.
