Odd old clay balls, any info?

Just bought these. Very strange, don't know why so small, maybe a child's set? Made of clay I think. Kinda neat. Anyone know about these?

Yes. I had them when I was 8. Beat the pants off my Father and my cousins much older.

Fairly common in antique stores. The numbers are stickers and the balls are tough as nails. My kids would bounce them off my concrete shop floor for hours when they were small. Never had one break or chip.

This is what I came up when I googled it, that's why I guesed bakelite. No matter of course, they look fun adorning my JBL speaker, lol

This must be right. I remember my dad had an old toy WWII era bomber plane toy that was made out of something similar if I recall
