I bet more than half the “men“ under the age of 40 have no idea what a clutch even does.
They‘ve certainly never had to use one…
The clutch is for starting and stopping. If you need it for anything else you don't know how to drive a stick.
My great uncle had a country store. A local gal came in driving her big city boyfriend's car. She pulled in to the gas pump, got gas, had to back out to leave. My uncle had to run beside the car to swap gears for her after putting the car in reverse for her. A few minutes later she came to a place the road came to a T intersection and drove through the shotgun shack on the other side of the T. She panicked when she needed to stop and there wasn't any clutch to push in!
