Howdy All;

Just my own opinion;

Any time you "join" something it is just another hole to throw your $'s into.
Any 'Organization', Union, or whatever name the folks agree on will by nature
require funds to operate and hire the appropriate specialists to conduct the
'whatever's' business as well as protect the player's interests ... Sponsors ain't
gonna pay for that, works against them. How much are the players willing to pay
to make it work? How will the low end players pay or will it just be an exclusive
club for the top tier?

Lots of questions to be asked as well as answered.

Well if you want a players Union who would be the Jimmy Hoffa of Pool?

Then what would a Union goals be?

Maybe the players need to go on strike, until they get what they want.😥

Well Unions are both good, and bad. Grandmother was in Ladies Garment Workers Union, over 35 years. She worked in NYC sweat shop, did have good medical, but her pension was $35.00/month.

Her income was peace work pay, and it was what it was.

Wonder if she had put here Union does in IRA, verses give to Union if she would have had better retirement income.

Is this about getting Fedor an exception to compete? (And the other Russian pros) A players union to ensure players stay alive and free from government targeting.
I highly doubt they'd have an emergency meeting just for that .

Can't say as I blame them for wanting to organize something after having to deal with bad playing tables and players getting robbed in their hotel rooms.
It's a brutal way to make a living .
Do they even get room discounts ?
You can be making tens of millions in baseball and you still get food allowance when you go on the road.

I think a long term goal for a player organization is running their own tournaments.

I thought pro players can make more money starting their own smaller tournaments (for non pros) or at least a league or a billiard super expo.

There is a difference between a union and an organization.

Well I have said for years if all Amateur & Professional was under one Organization not 7 or more.

You would have one set of rules, an Organization to scansion events, and guarantee money.

Plus the strength of numbers, current system is bush league.
