It's shaved now and hardly a factor anymore. Playing a red slowly against the nap to curve around the pink into the middle pocket on a freshly ironed table used to be a thing of beauty. It's actually an English Billiards table tricked up for snooker, and billiards isn't half the game when played on a smooth cloth. Snooker is all straight lines, so it's ideal.
 
Ronnie goes down for a shot and gets back up. His tip was flaking just a tad and it got in his eye line. He went back to his corner and used the old sandpaper.

Stephen Hendry is a great commentator. He says, "Yeah, the great view of the Ronnie O'Sullivan technique there. Nothing moving on the strike. No head movement. No deviation of the cue going through the cueball."
