With all the golf talk going on and how some people compre both games, I've always wondered if there ever has ever been a tournament called The Masters in pool?

The WPBA has their "WPBA Masters" event once a year.
Matchroom, of course, has the World Pool Masters.
Barry Behrman had a "Masters 10-Ball Championship" back in 2011.
There are a number of other events that have "Masters" in the name.

Danny D won a tournament at Weenie Beanies called the Masters years ago.
Yes, the details elude me, but it was about 20-25 years ago, and I remember that the winner was awarded a jacket in addition to prize money won. Not sure whether it was before or after the PBT folded. The event was called "The Masters", not to be confused with the countless tournaments over the years that had the word "Masters" as part of the tournament's title.
We had a Masters Artistic Pool Championship there for a while as well.

There was a short time that The Masters was run at the same place the US Open was held, there was also the McDermott Masters https://store.accu-stats.com/9-ball/other-tournaments/1991-mcdermott-masters/, not affiliated with them. azhousepro said it was 10 ball but it was 9 ball, unless there was another one https://store.accu-stats.com/9-ball/other-tournaments/the-masters-championship-2001/ Not sure how long that one went on, AccuStats only has one year of it but it may not have been taped the other times if it ran more than once. I think the only one just called "The Masters" was the one Barry had.
Yup, the one I was trying to think of was the 2001 event called "The Masters", and I believe there was just one of them.

The "McDermott Masters 9-Ball Championship" was held from 1982-1993, I believe.
Some of the winners were-
Earl Strickland (1984, 1991, 1992)
Nick Varner (1983, 1987)
Efren Reyes (1988)
Kim Davenport (1989
Johnny Archer (1993)
From the list of winners I would probably guess this was a considered major title at the time.

There was also the "2001 Masters 9-Ball Championship" won by Efren Reyes, "2005 Masters 9-Ball Championship" won by Francisco Bustamante and "2011 Masters 10-Ball Championship" won by Mika Immonen.
