We have a list -- Members Online -- but my curious nature remains unsatisfied . . . I want to know not just present usage but also some basis for comparison. Also, it would be nice to be able to easily determine which areas are being accessed (and when) -- what's hot and not.

For instance, when are the times of heaviest usage? Which areas get the most posts, views?

Perhaps no one else shares my particular idiosyncrasy (not the first time or last), perhaps AZB regards such data as highly confidential, perhaps . . .

Would anyone else like to see an AZB Usage bar graph showing various aspects of present and historic activity?

What you are seeking sounds like it could be a lot of work to generate if it doesn't already exist.

I think we all intuitively know there is a relatively small number of members who post and a larger universe of folks who still check in and just silently peruse the posts. Some of the sub forums are niche operations with just a few regulars and there are probably a couple that could be done away with due to extended neglect. Some guys have permanently left the forum with some to perhaps be found on FB.

The moderation here has been pretty smooth as of late and the administration is relatively benevolent. Personally, I think it was a big plus when one moderator -- who had a tendency to take things too personally and always had the need to prove he was the biggest swinging dick in the joint -- permanently departed a few years back.

So to directly answer your question: no, it is what it is and all things considered, that ain't bad. The same cannot be said of all forums.

I am one of those who would like to see data on usage, but perhaps Mike would prefer to keep such info non-public...understandably.
 
It would make more sense to incentivize behaviors that are desired by the site owner.
 
It would be interesting to see the analytics of AZB for the last 18 years. There’s a lot less people here than in 2010 that’s certain. The expansion of social media, some members passing away who are irreplaceable and for other reasons it’s not as active as it once was. Like pool in general it’s contracting.

However it will not die. There are enough people like myself who do contribute meaningful informative posts which are great learning tools for some, a walk down memory lane for others, and a few laughs and goood looking girls. Forget the cancer in NPR-that’s embarrassing.

I do my part with 80% of my posts and try and answer questions. It can get repetitive, but that’s ok.

I GUARANEE he has been asked more times than the amount of usernames he's had...or the times he's been banned. Or the times he was caught selling something given to him by azb members as donations for the kids in his area.
 
Mike has cleaned up NPR a lot.
There are just a few cockroaches left scurrying around.

Have a go at posting a positive thread there, see how many replies it gets and/or who derails it.
Patterns that should help target extermination of said cockroaches.
Then it might be a better part of the forum.

The stats here in Main would be high as well.
Which, also highlights another issue.
The forum has sections for different cuesports, regions etc but very often users just post in Main and not in a specific section.
I don't see Moderators moving threads around either to tidy up.
So, Main is a big dumping ground.
New users or browsers instinctively go to sections.. With nothing in there.
Looks bad.

Also curious about growth rate of the forum the last 10 years.
Member count.
Post rate per day.

Related to this, as a few have said already. Compared to social media platforms with groups that now exceed member count here, what are the main areas people congregate on these days.
What can be done, if anything to bring more traffic here?
I personally prefer a dedicated site, which this is, for cuesports.
Social media platforms are fickle and at the mercy of the host platform.
Best to keep control in your hands.
 
Amazing thing about NPR is that otherwise seemingly sane members sign in and instantly lose all rational perspective. The arguments I read are long on emotion and short on logic/intelligence. Plus, one needs a scorecard to keep track of past transgressions. So many unburied hatchets. All give and no take.

And sadly, the apparent AZB graveyard of at least one valued and respected AZB member.
