What are the newest/most current training aids?

Why do you say so you own one❓❓❓❓❓
Yes I own one
the instructional material available is terrific to help you improve your game
And the information given to you from many of the modules is much more than you would get from a YouTube video or an instructional book

Do you have an example of something the projection system can do that you will not get from videos or books?

Frankly, to me, the video projection systems I've seen are nothing more than fancy ways to mark the table. Far less accurate and flexible than other methods of doing that.

this is from a cue ball position drill sequence bob
you get the ghost ball aiming/what english to use and how hard to hit it/and the path the cueball takes to the target
you can take the training wheels off and take the template off the table after you have set up the shot too
i have never seen all 3 parts like that in a video or book
and regarding your bolded statement
i disagree
they are not less accurate as you can calibrate the projection to your table
AND you can devise your own set ups and
you DO NOT HAVE TO CONTINUALLY REMOVE AND REPLACE THE DONUTS AS MARKERS

I’d equate projection systems to power windows.

Sure, it does the same thing as rolling your window down. But I’m not interested in roll down windows anymore.

I’ll take 500 drills loaded into a projector over the same 500 in a book that I have to set up.

But, will the projector make you a better player (all things equal)? Nah

I think it can empty your wallet fast of Mucho Denero, and people will buy in because they love gadgets, Apps, and technology.

Wonder if Willie Mosconi came back to life again for 30 days, asaw where Pool has gone, and all the wonderful gizmos, gatgets, super shaft available in 2022. What would Willie Say????

The problem is that it may be that none of the drills programmed into the computer is suitable for you.

And the same goes for 500 drills in a book.

The projector does not make Mosconi's ring-around-the-side any easier or faster to set up, and that is a great drill that every student should master to some degree.

The projector doesn't know about the progressive practice drills you have figured out for your own weaknesses until you have programmed them into the system and the projector can't track your progress as well as a penny can.

If having flashy technology gets you to actually pay attention to your practice time, then maybe it's worth it, but in my view the projection systems are not yet fully developed.

Yet, with a projector, once you have it programmed in, you will be exponentially faster in the future.

Take two instructors or two players who are putting in hours upon hours on a table.

The instructor or player with the projector will save literally hundreds of hours over the course of their career with a projector.

Without it, you either have to place donuts or eyeball the locations and place the balls. Vs just pushing a button. And when you’re done with the projector, your table is completely free of donuts or any other such stuff.

And, without a projector, unless you want to do a ton of work, you can’t show a student or yourself the line of travel.

I spend at least 30% of my professional time instructing in shooting disciplines. Be it for recreational/competitive shooters or .mil/le shooters. Pool is extremely similar with fundamentals and training plans.

Arguing that you’re “just as good” without technology such as this is lying to yourself. Can you get to the same place without it? Of course.

But you won’t be as efficient in the long run.

Have you used it when practicing your break? How about long draw shots?
No I haven’t used it for the break, or long draw shots and I’ll have to admit for a beginner it’s probably not a ball to learn with. Beyond that level though I haven’t found it that helpful.
