They use to be the it years ago. The designs are boring and haven't been changed in over a decade. I've been looking for a new cue and it's the same crap from a decade ago
Most of their current lineup isn't "classic" designsYou are probably in the minority thinking their designs are boring, Rolex, Mont Blanc, Cross, the Polo Shirt, all have designs that don't change much, all classic, all desirable. How many new car designs are destined to be classic like the Countach, Jag XKE, Ferrari 308 heck even the original Ford Taurus was a classic design and they failed to get the same mojo back in every new attempt. Hunting after new stuff is for the kids that need to have a new iPhone every year.
I think hes in the majority, since Ive never seen anyone playing with a shön? Neither anyone mentioning it at all. Predator on the other hand…You are probably in the minority thinking their designs are boring, Rolex, Mont Blanc, Cross, the Polo Shirt, all have designs that don't change much, all classic, all desirable. A long defence speech for a cue no one even glanses at under 75yrs old. I think they fit perfectly for a man entering a pool hall by the ocean on a steam boat, or riding up to one on a horse with a cowboy hat & a giant beltbuckle & cowboy boots. Zeb Macahan had 2 shööns in his wigwam.McDonalds also gets more visitors than a local high end burger place, but that does not mean quality or taste is better there. Same thing for Nike over say some custom brand shoes. People just don't know about the other thing and go with the flow of mass market.
If you see some guy missing 5 times a rack driving a Toyota Cellica, wearing jean shorts and no sleeves, chances are they will have a Predator. If someone pulls up in dress slacks in classic car wearing a $1,000 watch, you won't be surprised if they have a Schon inside their Felini case, or a Joss West ,or some other classic looking cue.
So far in this thread of 4 pages, I counted you and Zerksies as the only two that don't like Schon designs. I see 0 issues with the designs, and the fact that they have not changed them does not mean anything bad to me at all. Cues are not bling items to show off how new yours is, pool is as rooted in the classic designs as any sport there is. Diamonds, points, veneers all have been used for years and show up in new cues constantly.
Not to say a cue like a Black Boar or some other brand is not good looking, but just because a maker sticks to what they build for 10,20,30 years does not make them "boring". Kids call it boring, adults call it classic. Almost always the funky looking cues are in the hands of beginners, devil women cues, bright colors, shiny sparkle painted points, once they play for a bit and learn more about the sport they go towards the more subdued designs.
I also play a Pechauer pro series with a 314. Good combo. My primary playing cue is a Schon LTD butt with 314 shaft my backup is a Pechauer with same shaft. I see no reason to fix what ain’t broke

(That said I think most of the designs posted here were pretty nice, compared to current lineup.)
Your absolutely right!Actually players with cowboy hats and boots I would expect to have a McDermott.
Something with an animal on it very likely
