Anyone else ever pull out an old cue, play great with it, and suddenly doubt which is your favorite?

I normally play with a Pechauer Pro series cue with a P+Pro LD laminated shaft, and I love it. I also recently bought a Keith Josey cue, and really like it as well. Then, just for grins I brought out a Schmelke I haven't played in a year or two and was suddenly intrigued. They're all different, but I play just about the same with all of them, and they all feel great. I hate to go back and forth during League, but can't honestly say which is my favorite now or if there's one with which I play the best. The Pechauer is beautiful, the Josey has a conical taper and looks different sighting down the shaft, and the Schmelke is just a sweet hitting bargain. Anyone else find themselves questioning which cue is your favorite?

once yeah, a starkey all birdseye butt. heck of a player. i put it away for now though. ill pull it out in another yr and see what i think then

i change what i play with atleast twice a yr anyways sooooo.

Nope I only play with one cue. It’s the only playing cue I own. It’s the only custom cue I’ve ever had made and as of right now I plan on it being my last playing cue. I might something if I found it at a bargain and could resell for more money but that’s it

Pick your favourite. I would just play the hell out of it. Untill it feels like you can't put it down. All 3 sound nice. I've alternated between similar shafts with success. But entire cues. I would be worried about swapping them around to much. It's a nice problem to have though:)

Uh…….my answer is simple……Nope, there’s a reason why I haven’t any doubts.
I rotate my cues & play with a different cue every session. I have a 6x12 cue case.

The cues that I own and don’t carry stay at home for darn good reasons. Any cue
I select from my case is my favorite that day but tomorrow, it will be a different one.

I was getting the tip replaced on my Treadway ebony merry widow and pulled a Schon out of my case the other day.
Same maker LD shaft as the Treadway and it felt great. Since the Treadway shaft came back the Schon has stayed in the case....but boy it felt great.

I have six Ned Morris cues and I play with three of them. The other three have a lot of ivory, the twins are in his top 10 cues he's ever made and have never been played with. I shall keep them that way. Why not play with the best when you've got them, (don't give me crap about it, but that is only my opinion).

If you own numerous nice cues like some of us here likely do, if you’re like me, when you get in a slump and not playing well (although we know the cue has nothing to do with it) that is when I often switch cues, and it quite often can pull me out of that slump, at least for a while. It’s all mental of course.

With that many cues you could match the cue to the clothes you are wearing at the time and be a pool fashionista!

I have this feeling no matter what cue is in my hand. Even a junk bar cue off the wall with a slip on tip. Give me some chalk and I'll make it sing.

I do feel that consistency is important so I'm sticking with the one that's in my case.

I have two mainstays, but which I one I choose makes little difference because what each offers as a cue far surpasses my ability as a player. Playing with a familiar cue is very satisfying in and of itself.

At home I rotate play amongst two of my Schon's and a DZ. All three are weighted and ballanced similarly, with the only difference being two are leather wrapped and one no wrap. For league it's always the no wrap, and I only shoot that the couple days before league. I have been playing alot with a 3" extension on my no wrap and really like that. Heck, my cue rack sits right next to my table and I just can't see not using some of the cues in it. I can understand just having one main player, but if you don't occasionally pick one of your other cues off the rack at home to enjoy playing with, why have them, you might as well just sell them.

I own 2 players. One 13mm maple and 1 12.2mm graphite. I swap them out every once in a while and find I play about the same. The 13mm is more forgiving but the 12.2 seems to do much better with ball control IMHO.
