Should accuracy lines be drawn on pool tables?

I live in a complex where we have 9' tables. The manager has absolutely said NO Lines can be drawn. I think that al least the line on the back of the foot spot so the rack can be set up accurately.... but NO. Thoughts?
If you want the lines bad enough, why don’t you offer the manager to pay to have the table recovered in new Simonis 860 in exchange for your being able to draw rack alignment lines on the table?

What was his response when you asked him why?

He can NOT change his mind when I have shown him mulitple tables marked with pros playing from around the world. BUT in mind of that, I have obtained 1/8" wide masking tape and I'll mark the line from the back spot, using my laser, back to the diamond on the end rail so we can have accurate racking. I guess there are other ways to do it.

My thoughts
You have pockets and diamonds as referral points…and I wouldn’t go over the manager’s head or behind his back

For clarification, are you in an apartment complex with a game room for residents, and the "manager" is the manager of the apartment complex. Or is there some other situation going on?

I've lived in apartments the past 10 years, and generally office staff could not care in the slightest what you do, unless another resident complains. The table in our "game room" was brand new a couple years ago. Total piece of garbage. I went there at night with my starrett level and tried to make it nicer. I put electrical tape over the pocket tacks that were ruining the garbage balls. Office staff have no idea about pool. Next time, keep your mouth shut, and just stick a master spot on the table. Problem solved, and the office staff would never have been wiser.

I believe the table already has a foot spot on it. The OP is requesting for lines to be drawn to be able to align the rack squarely. That’s something you usually see in a serious pool room.

And looks like crap when not done properly. My last on this. Leave it alone. BTW… is it a cheap table with fuzz cloth or a ProAm or GC.

We have 8 -9' Diamond tables with Simonis 860 cloth. I'll do the 1/8" masking tape for accuracy.

You have eight 9ft diamonds in your apartment game room? Holy moly that is incredible.
Must be a player involved somewhere in getting that kind of quality at an apartment complex.

I'm just... a little jealous😉

That sounds very hard to believe. I wish the OP would elaborate a little bit more on this game room at this “complex”, so we can better understand.

And pool facilities in apartments and community clubhouses are, in my experience, at the opposite end of the spectrum of serious pool rooms. In every one I've been in the cloth looks like it has never been brushed or vacuumed and the balls look like they've never been polished. The only exception I've seen is the senior center I used to play 3c at, because the 3c players did the maintenance and paid for cloth, balls, brokered the donation of a second table and paid for is moving and setup.
