Soon as Japan opens up a bit more I’ll be there. I was 3X in 2018 and once in November 2019. I love Japan.

We drove one trip from Osaka to Tokyo (the long way-stopping by various pool rooms). That was the 2019 trip.

Japan and Germany are my 2 favorite countries.

I’ve been lucky to be able to travel so much. I’m usually traveling 6-7 months a year and home the rest of the time.

It’s the best. Traveling is the best teacher and adventure for me is something I’ve always had. I don’t do resorts, tour groups or cruise ships. I figure it out and go it alone 95% of the time. Or with friends who are local to the area(best plan).

Glad you got to travel like that. Eventually I’ll slow down as I get older but when I do, no regrets. I want to see and do it all(almost) no sky diving 😂.

That part is shitty. Having to wait is just life now but he should be able to get an answer where it is in the process.
 
Was always a big fan of Gold Crowns but my room has recently switched over to Diamonds and I love them.
Still love GC's though and think for playability of the two are about the same.
I like the thwack sound of a well hit center pocket shot on a GC I must say.
The Diamonds in my room tend to leave black marks on the balls from hitting the pocket.
I feel they are the same for playability though.
Easy adjustment between the two for me anyway.

Same here, not a fan of tours/cruise ships. I can also live without sky diving haha

I’ve never been on a cruise.

A mega yacht on my time schedule would be cool. I have never done that

A cruise ship-never, I don’t follow in life. My schedule, simple as that. Too crowded ugh Wouldn’t work for me

One of the first things that drew me to pool was the sound! Some ten footers, maybe EA Schmidt?, I don't remember. These tables had a double layer of heavy cow hide you hit when drilling a ball dead in the hole. I shot a little harder than needed just to hear that heavy thunking sound hitting the back of a pocket.

Recently got a new diamond from a friend of mine that's a dealer. I got lucky in that he had one that he was holding for another friend, but his friend needed to add on to his house or something and was going to be a while, so he suggested I offer $500 or so if I really want it now, which I did. I recently moved into a new house and wanted a diamond asap, so ended up paying an extra $600 to get that table and have the dealers friend go on the wait list instead of me.

It's been ages since I've played pool at a bar and did so yesterday, why I was waiting for takeout. Your average valley bar box, but cue ball had a huge crack nearly going around the whole thing and at the end of the crack had a pit in it the size of a pea. Was just using the bar cue that was there, but I wouldn't have wanted to use my personal cue on that cue ball. Didn't have an opponent, so no annoying petty arguments over rules, etc., and still reminded of how nice it is to have nice equipment at home. I get it, this was a bar and not a pool hall with good equipment, but still nice to play on awesome equipment when you want, at your home.

The last month I've occasionally wondered if it was worth it to have paid extra to get the table now and for me, I think it definitely was. For me, it's like having a car or something with all the niceties and then going to one without them. Once that box is open, it's just hard to go back. I just love the way a diamond plays and with the new house, I definitely don't mind paying for the convenience of having one now, as opposed to looking at an empty spot in my basement wondering when I'll have a table to play on.

Really hoping the production issues get worked out sooner than later and all who want tables, can get them asap. After reading through this, I feel I got lucky, even though I had to pay extra to get it now, since I know that's probably not an option for most.
 
I worked in construction engineering for a long time. You have to plan for and schedule many interrelated parts and activities. The number of unplanned things that can go awry at any step is maddening, but it has the effect of unintentional delays down stream. You learn the trick of swapping resources between similar jobs to keep as many moving as possible. Even so, when you are the pour soul whose product is late it is irritating. No one sees the heroic steps often taken behind the scenes.

I used to push mostly industrial construction crews. If I was going to be gone a few hours I laid out a day's work with multiple fallback alternatives if one thing was not doable for some reason. Gone a day I would lay out a week of work the same way. Amazing the ways people can find to stop a job with nobody standing over them!

I mostly pushed hard money jobs where finishing early made money and late lost it. Good times for the most part but things could get ugly in a hurry sometimes.

Good mechanics are getting few and far between and the ones still around have more work than they can handle. Why arn't the table manufactures or the Billiard industry training new ones?

-Too much traveling.... (gas prices, eating on the road). You would have to service a very large area just to make it.
-Not steady work.
-Too much hastle to run a small business these days for the little return you would get.
-And if you work for someone else, there's no money or benefits in it.
- No family life if you have to travel. That's a big price to pay for little return.

That’s the biz I’m in now. We take hard $ smash up houses fast as possible and out run the juice.

It’s more the “time” biz than the construction biz.

It’s a bit gambley, not sure how many more I’m going to do.

Happy to share this with you, and AZB. I don’t post where I’m at all the time like some people do on social media. I’m not into all that, but to talk about me and Mrs Fatboy is cool.
