I'm in the market for a new cue, around 300 to 600 dollar budget. So far I've narrowed it down to Pechauer and Joss, but am open to other possibilities. If you play with or have experience with either of those brands what are some positives or negatives you feel about them? Thanks in advance for any help. -Beto-

Joss great player. Most are meh looking. Stiff hit. Front heavy.
Pechauer good player. Better looking designs. More even balanced with the half joint.

Honestly you need to hit some with both to know what you want.

Solid choices.
I think you can still get a basic Schon for $600 or less, that also would be a solid choice.
You will get a lot of opinions soon.

On the lower end of your price range, I'd recommend a Cuetec AVID - Low deflection, powerful hit, carbon fiber like finish, easily upgradeable, weight system, etc.. AVID Era Cues are around $250. Trust me, I can see all the eye rolls, Cuetec is not the same company as it was 4 years ago.

At the $600 dollar mark, I'd recommend a Cuetec SVB Cynergy. Carbon Fiber Shaft, not the prettiest butt, but serviceable, and all the technology you can handle. I rank the Cynergy as the best performing CF Shaft on the market. Again, all I can say is go try a new Cuetec, they play so good now.

If it were my money, easy choice of Mezz EC-9 for around $550.

Thank you... I was surprised when I didn't see mention of Mezz in the first reply.

CrocDoc has a Dufferin cue conversion that looks really sharp. It uses a Schon cue joint
and comes with a Schon 12.5mm shaft. Price is $550 shipped but his thread says he is open
to offers. The cue belongs to one of his friends. It was on p.7 of the f/s threads…..Dufferin cue.

Without actually being able to try things out, you are just going to get more confused since there are about 534 cues you can buy, new and used, and there are going to be 534 people telling you they are all good. Never mind the shaft and tip options.

You said "a new cue" meaning you already have one? What is it and what don't you like about it? Once you give some info about preferences then you can get some narrowing down of things.

Seybert's has Vikings with the Vikore LD shaft starting around $300. I haven't tried the Vikore but some people seem to love them. The Siege CF shaft is a $300 upgrade and I like the Siege very much. If you want a conventional solid maple shaft, there are less expensive Vikings starting at around $250.

I don't think it's necessary to go CF to get a good performing shaft but the slickness and the resistance to dings are nice features.
