Wipe off with rag. When switching to Taom v10, what is the best way to clean the old chalk off the tip before applying v10?
Yup, that's all I did. No problems.Wipe off with rag.
I haphazardly flipped my cue over and drilled it into the carpet. Fortunately I didn't end up reshaping the tip in the process as well....When switching to Taom v10, what is the best way to clean the old chalk off the tip before applying v10?
I'm convinced the thing that would convert players to alternatives to Masters and other old standbys is to see what it looks like underneath the cloth when a table is recovered. I play in a pool room that wipes the cloth rather often, but rarely vacuums the cloth. I was present the last time they did their annual cloth change. When they pulled off the old cloth it was unbelievable! If you wiped your hand across the slate it looked like you had just dipped it in blue goo.
For sure there's no excuse for frequently vacuuming up the chalk dust, but it's a lot better not to have it there in the first place.
We’d have to ask someone that died from chalk dustWonder if there’s ever been a study on the
effects of breathing chalk dust for decades
Every couple years I change the cloth. Yeah, you wouldn't believe the amount of chalk build up underneath. Because chalk is such a fine dust. The cloth acts like a sieve. If you play a lot. You will see it. I can't say, what the other chalks do the the cloth. But the triangle and masters leave a lot behind!! I quite like it, looks as if I've playing way more, than I probably have!!!!!I'm convinced the thing that would convert players to alternatives to Masters and other old standbys is to see what it looks like underneath the cloth when a table is recovered. Gotta ask...how much on tip, on shaft and on butt/whole cue did you spend?Masters chalk cost me $0.25 per year. How can you possibly beat that?
When i use master chalk my $25 tip lasts 3 months.not cheap just practical
Then learn how to play better I don't have any issues with master chalkWhen i use master chalk my $25 tip lasts 3 months.
With taom a year, plus no bad contacts, messy tables and balls

I remember the first time I read someone on the internet trying to highbrow by talking about Calcium Carbonate when discussing billiard chalk. It was hilarious in its irony. We haven’t evolved much today. Super.Ko used Master and Aranas used Triangle. You don't think these guys have access to these bullshit $20 a cube chalks? It's Calcium Carbonate and that's that. Your game does not need a miracle shaft or chalk mined on Uranus you need TALENT. That's in far rarer supply than these so called "super chalks", "super cues", "super shafts" or anything else.
Last tournament I watched him play, Ronnie was swearing by Taom. At least, that’s what I thought the commentator said.Having read, some of the long running thread on taom chalk.
I personally love the old masters stuff. I know SVB uses it. And ronnie and judd, still use the green triangle In snooker.
My question is: how many like myself still use it? Or have you moved over to the modern stuff?
Pool guys resisting change??? Are you nutz???not sure about performance, but the lack of mess with my taom is leagues beyond masters, also dont have to chalk after every shot
the snooker guys seem to believe it all but eliminates kicks and skids
my single piece is going on 4 months of daily use with lots left
masters seems obscenely outdated at this point
what is it with pool guys always resisting change?
No way man, thats impossible. [this is where @The_JV re-enters the fray]When i use master chalk my $25 tip lasts 3 months.
