been in some loud spots but never that loud. at least not where serious pool is played.Really?
Already asked by several other players. No effect. I am now taking precautions, thus the reason I asked for opinions on hearing protection..

This place has lots of serious players. Mike Davis is on a team there. First place this time is $12,000....been in some loud spots but never that loud. at least not where serious pool is played.
owner must be a dick then. This place has lots of serious players. Mike Davis has a team there. First place this time is $12,000....
Lol. I would let anyone have that as a spot. It would really only help very low rated players and they can't even do what THEY hope to do more than 50% of the time. I already have a voice in my head telling me what to shoot and that one is confusing enough. This isn't something I would ever worry/care about.Which creates another problem.... people will, and have, used them to cheat. That's why they are vannednat many events.
That's why I recommended the simple foam ones....I did order and receive a pair of MQES ear buds. The second time I used them they shut themselves off every five minutes. Tried factory reset and the issue continued. Then the reality set in..
They supply you an 800 number but it is not available. A sub contracting firm answered and said they no longer take calls or supply support for MQES products.
I dug deeper and found an email link directly to MQES. That bounced back to me as undeliverable.. So no customer support at all..
Thankfully I bought them through Amazon and back they go on Monday..
MQES ear buds are not recommended by this member.
Looking at an Anker ear bud system next. They have support and back there product...
I will post about those later in the week.
Wrong gender. But in essence correct.owner must be a dick then.
That sums it up pretty well!I played in an event a few mths back, and if you/I were face to face... we were not able to hear each other. Karaokeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. lol
Sorry to hear that. My wife and I both have a set for over a year and no issues at all. Good luck on your next approach.I did order and receive a pair of MQES ear buds. You‘re right most bar/clubs do have loud music playing most of the time. I remember playing in a tournament at Hard Times in Sacramento years ago when they turned off all jukeboxes during the 2 day tournament and you should have heard the howls from the non pool players in the joint.apparently you haven't been in a bar/club lately. every place i play has music going.
Often times, the owner is absent, and the ‘counter man’ controls the sound system/juke box.I understand music is played in clubs and bars. I am 70 years old and have been exposed to all sorts of things over the years. Now that I have lived this long I take my health very seriously, honestly every day is a blessing. Below is a link that gives recommendations and comparisons of sound levels and what is healthy and not.. The levels I experienced were and will be unhealthy, but I gave my word to this team and will not go back on that. However I will wear protection and another of my teammates has already ordered his ear protection.
What bothers me the most is the owners are willing to damage their customers hearing and for what, a few dollars? Going forward I will only go there on league night once a week and will spend less there as a result. A happy customer will spend more and be at your establishment more, something they should consider...
The decibel readings last week were 115 - 120..

Decibel Chart of Common Sounds | dB Comparing Decibel Levels
The human ear is very sensitive and perceives even the smallest differences in sound intensity. However, we may not always be aware of just how loud some sounds can be.decibelpro.app
Yes what you say is true. The staff here is aware as is the owner. It was even louder tonight reaching 125 decibels at times. If I could bail out I would!Often times, the owner is absent, and the ‘counter man’ controls the sound system/juke box.
A few yrs. ago, I checked out a billiard room I had heard about, but had yet to visit. I found 8-10 nine foot G.C.s, covered with a well-worn, cheap grade of carom cloth (like playing on silk). The sound system was cranked to ‘rock concert’ volume, and when I could finally make myself heard & complained to the 20-something counter man about the noise level, he looked at me like I was crazy. Needless to say, I never went back.
