CSI/Predator Michigan Open (Men/Women) 10 Ball (21-24Sep)

I'm sure some will opt for the Sandcastle Open, 10/6-8, in Edison New Jersey. It's only about 100 miles from the US Open venue.

He is from Dayton, which is close to Wilmington. But I don't know where he actually lives now. We are coming up on good pro events in the United States on 5 successive weeks, starting with the Sandcastle Open (where Thorpe is an entrant). Perhaps some players felt it wiser to pace themselves a bit rather than going from two locations in New Jersey out to Ohio and then down to Virginia Beach and Norfolk. I also wonder whether some good players are being squeezed out of an event like the Ohio Open because of it filling the 64-player limit before they submitted their entry. The CSI/Predator events are called a "Pro Billiard Series," but lots of entrants are far from pro-level players. I wonder whether anything is being done to see that pros aren't denied spots because of quick entries by players who really do not belong in a pro event (other than helping the prize fund).

it could also be that they don't like the format.

Like Stu mentioned.
'' I feel CSI/Predator are doing some things that will appeal to the mainstream fan.''

This comment is why I enjoy watching, Roland Garros, Wimbledon and other sports I don't play.
A great production, like Augusta is good stuff.

They need to evolve the ''spot shot'' production excitement.
Like MR is trying to do with the 9 ball break, try something MORE...... ''different''.

Adding this Element to the game should be something simple & exciting for the mainstream audience.
I'd take their thought process/shootout format, one step further.

Something less one dimensional than (spot shots) BUT, more like tennis does when the sets are all tied up.
When a Win by 2 shootout occurs.

Give the mainstream viewer something Exciting to determine who breaks first.... in the Shootout.

Maybe a shot, like a Target Pool shot.
Cue ball in hand, object ball in the same spot for both players, and have Whitey go four rails and land on a target spot, like a par 3.

A lag shot is never exciting.

I tot Ohio Open is after USO
Strong field 12xFR800 stronger than Michigan Open
Predator really pay good money to the top finishers. For this 64 field, they pay $25K for winner also same as for their 128 field event
CSI is more pro am then pro pro, so pros not necessarily given preference over league players

I like Win by 2. I think US Open was only big event with win by 2 and then they dropped it
Though it may be less exciting for average viewer/spectator. no more hill hill

There was a middle ground at the old US Open 8-ball years ago. The format was race to 9, win by two, but 12-12 was double hill, so the race could not proceed past 25 racks played. I liked that. In this format, SVB and Biado staged one of the greatest eight ball matches ever played in the event finals. I think the score was 12-10 favor of Shane.

I tot Ohio Open is after USO ...
Yes, that's what I was saying -- 2 events in New Jersey, then 1 in Ohio, then 2 in Virginia Beach/Norfolk.

Sandcastle, Oct. 6-8
US Open, Oct. 10-15
Ohio Open, Oct. 19-22
American 14.1, Oct. 24-29
International, Oct. 28-Nov. 5

Thanks for sharing. That's a really nice lineup. Good money to be made for the top pros over this one-month period coming up soon. It will be interesting to see which players take greatest advantage of this unique opportunity.

The stars of our game are starting to earn some real prize money. The year-end money list for 2022 will look like no other in our sport's history. The event producers have really stepped up to the plate this year!
