I asked him this a few months ago...more specifically I told him I thought he could be a top 3 rotation player if he focused on it as much as he does 1 pocket.

His reply? A. I don't like rotation and B. it would be too big of a pay cut.

that's understandable, if he thinks that focus would take away from his one pocket game and related income.

After Ussery lost 10-3 to Yapp, Robert Frost is the last hope for the US in the winner's bracket. He's currently losing 4-2 to Roberto Gomez.

"International" Open indeed.

Strickland and Wolford might be running neck and neck for the final spot. Wolford leads Reinhold 6-2 and the Pearl beat Vilmos Foldes 10-6 in round 3 of the loser's bracket.

if that's the case, my money is on earl. he plays nguyen from vietnam, while wolford is facing al-yousef. ussery is playing woodward.

Does not matter to many folks on here. They will never miss an opportunity to let everyone know how pathetic pool in the U.S. is. These people were sure 5 years ago that we would NEVER win another MC. Winning back to back with woefully undertalented teams did very little to improve their opinion of our guys.
Top 3 my ass

Top 3 my ass

+1

Tony might not even be top 3 in one pocket.

In long races (that I'm aware of), he's lost to

Alex 2x (once getting weight)
Dennis
Filler

and I doubt he'd be a favorite over Gorst.

Although he did win a close match against old man Frosty

Should have noted we were discussing American pool players. If you have ever seen him play 9 ball, I think you would agree that if he took the time to focus on his rotation game, he could be a top 3 American player.

I would agree.

You are changing your story. Your original post does not say American. Now you setting the bar pretty low.

If Dechaine, Bergman, and Sky died
So you don't think T-REx has as high a gear as a retired Dechaine and semi retired Bergman? He very well may not, and to be honest those two never even entered my thought process, as they aren't active.

Hence why I said that I should have noted in the OP.

no doubt tony could make some serious damage if he focused on rotation. here's him playing JL chang last year:

but it's not all about shooting straight and moving good, the whole rotation route comes with other stuff such as travel expenses, need for sponsors, WADA testing, infrequent breaks for smoking etc..

I guess we might be seeing yet another Earl meltdown at the Mosconi Cup this winter.

I was gonna suggest john schmidt earlier today because of shaw being on euro team but after listening him on a hot mic after doing the match before with jj and saying "according to the genius" about skid, it probably won't happen.
What a dick
