Busti-Appleton...Day 2

I personally think Busty was the best ever out of the Philippines, better than Efren, Jose, Alex, and Dennis. (Even though Efren was my favorite to watch, of course).

Of course, the beauty of a player is in the eyes of the beholder, but I'd put Bustie, who is undeniably a legend, below all the others you mentioned.

I think Busty is still in the top 5-10 best all around players even right now. I mean if you play 8 Ball, 9 Ball, 10 Ball, One Pocket and 14.1, I think he might beat anybody.

He's certainly not in the conversation with any of Alex, Dennis, Gorst, Filler or SVB, and is likely weaker as an all-around than fellow Filipinos Biado and Corteza.

I think you're overlooking how strong the fields are today and how many great all-around players there are in pool today. For example, did you consider Wiktor Zielinski? In 2022 alone, he won the Las Vegas 10-ball, and was second at each of the American 14.1, the International 9-ball and the World 8-ball. At 21, he reached a major final in four different disciplines this year alone.

No disrespect to an all-time great, but I doubt Bustie would be a force at all at the game's top level right now, and he hasn't won an event at rotation games against a premier internationally diverse field for several years.

Did day 3 start? Is there a link anywhere? Thanks. They are 12 hrs ahead of USA East Coast, or 13? I think some of the Asian countries do daylight savings, and some do not.

His game has aged better than almost anybody. He has to be the best player in the world over 55
Very true.

Similarly, Ralf Souquet will be 54 years old tomorrow. Ralf beat a star-studded field in the European 8-ball Championship to win the gold medal earlier this year. A couple of weeks ago, Ralf managed a 5th place finish at the Puerto Rico Open 10-ball. Ralf can still give the big boys a run for their money.

That was why I stated 55 and older, as Ralf is the only player I can think of over 50 who might be favored to beat Bustamante- although I don't think he'd be a strong favorite by any means.

Talent wise, I think Earl could hang with both of them, but the odds are very low that he would be able to keep his composure in a long race.

That's we need, a Busti-Kaiser throwdown. You could call it 'Old Farts With Heart' ;)
