Mosconi cup

When tyler dogged that 9 I thought here we go typical year at the mosconi. It always seems when the euro’s can an out they are every time and we dog it somehow And in a race to 5 that’s death but he came back with a break and run. I’m sure when fuller was up 4-3 they thought it was in the bag.

Is no one going to talk about hat insane kick carom svb made on the 9! Again it looked like another typical American game where we have an easy out and Shane way over draws it. Svb said not today boys! Made an insane shot.

I couldn’t be happier to see Shaw playing poorly.. He is the biggest cockiest ass in pool.
 
One other note . I know the color of that ball drives everyone crazy but let’s look at the big picture. Matchroom has done for pool what no one has done for it since the 90s. They are investing big money. The players are playing on top equipment in great arenas with no worry if they check is going to bounce if they finish in the money! It wasn’t that long ago big tournaments were only streamed in some little pool hall with some half ass cameras set up . I for one appreciate them and what they’ve done.

Stupid format. This should be a world cup with teams representing countries...not the US against Europe. The US never wins because Europe has the best players...maybe China and the Philippines to...and Taiwan etc....you get the idea that every country can produce stellar players. The US does not have the best players in the world and never really has so its a tall order.

And the two ball combination (with both balls going in) in the previous game, was even better! Shane looks dialed in this week. Let’s hope it continues for three more days.
 
Just want to give a shout out to Florian Kohler who is entertaining the guests in the VIP area. He is truly an amazing trick shot artist, with most of his shots requiring true skill, more like Mike Massey than the guys who just set up their shots. Florian is personable and quite entertaining, that complements the “Wow” factor of the shots he pulls off, one after another.

This is another perk provided by Matchroom to the upper echelon ticket holders. They also brought members of each team into the VIP lounge for photo ops with the fans. All cool stuff imo.

Also I have a question. Do they hold up cheer signs to the audience? I find it distracting and forced the amount of cheering that goes on...on the players side too. How much is first prize? I think its 30k split 4 ways? Hardly life altering. I just don't think pool is exciting enough to warrant cheering. I mean maybe after a win or some amazing shot but there was a point I recall where they were cheering every single shot lol...I mean come on.

When I went to the MC at Mandalay Bay in 2019 the atmosphere was 100% real. It was actually one of the most incredible competitive atmospheres I've ever experienced and rivaled college football games with 100,000+ in attendance. It's hard to describe watching it on TV but when you're there, you get caught up in it. Even my wife, who is not a pool fan, was enthralled by the end of day 2.

They do not hold up any signs! The raucous and energetic crowd is fueled by fan fervor, primarily for the home team. It reminds me of the crowd in England and their boisterous support of the Euro squad. All cool in my book, but has had to be toned down by the refs several times already.

Our newest HOF member Jerry Breisath is also in attendance. Ran into my buddy Fatboy too, who is looking good these days. Well rested and well fed I’m sure!
