SVB vs Chohan 1P

I think anyone suggesting SVB is dumping a match should be banned from AZBilliards.

Every match. Every match someone has to bring up a dump. It is so painfully wrong and nasty. SVB is the world champion and is our best pool player of this generation. To even suggest he’s throwing games to cut up a pay per view stream is obscene.
Pool fans have every right to be cautious of dumping, and be wary of PPV streamed matches, because funny stuff has happened plenty of times in the past.

Anyone recall the SVB vs Chang match that Omega did?

Race to 120, tied at 115-115 and supposed to finish that night, with the betting line at SVB -8, suddenly gets an extra day of play and the race extended to 155.

Final score of SVB 155-139, who now covers the line. How many side bettors got burned on that one?

If you want to blame someone, maybe start calling out unscrupulous players and promoters instead of pretending like the pool world is inhabited by nothing but saints.

LMAO they don't care that the railbirds had the line at -8, the players have their own action on the line! Changing the race like that shows they were playing for real imo.

Easy out for the -8 guys, too.

"Original match was ended even, so I win or I push, I don't lose."

Team SVB did a wise thing in that match.
They owe the rail nothing.
Far more whining pool fans then players matching up.
On one of my first introductions to high end betting on pool, I was told this valuable nugget.
"Never bet more than the players are betting." "Ask around and figure out where the majority of money is at."
"Try to keep your bet between you and the person you bet, letting others hear can cause funny things to happen."
and lastly. "After the match, watch who gets into which cars."

Is 1k a point backgammon good action?
Yes that’s like $20k to $30k a set pool

It’s hard to make a direct comparison. But when you sit down to play figure 20-40 points can be the swing.

BG is pro rated ahead set. I’ve got clipped for 20 points in 45 minutes because of bad dice. I’ve ground 6 hour sessions and one 1 point.

But average 5 hour session is +/-20 points about 50% of the time.

$1000/point is high stakes action for sure.

70% of the time I’m playing $100’s or less. Never less than $25/point. 30% of the time it’s over $100. Most I’ve had down was $1200/point.

In Monaco I’ve seen $10,000/point. But they are super strong euro high rollers. In Beverly Hills about 7-8 years ago Alec Gores played Andy Beal(banker from Texas plays nose bleed poker) for a Million a point. I wasn’t there. It happened for sure-I knew some guys who were there. 135 points over a few weeks. I can’t remember who won or lost-I’ll find out. There’s other huge private games in LA-I’ve never been to them.

I'm sorry Mr. Jelatis but the nature of big money gambling is what happens "behind the scenes".
Omega and the promoters can TELL us they're playing for a billion dollars each lol, but only they, the backers, and THE PLAYERS really know what the "deal" is.
It's GAMBLING, lots of smoke and mirrors going on I'm sure.
SVB isn't immune to any shadiness either, he's a gambler and in it for cash like everyone else.
This is why I put more respect/honor/weight into tournament results---> less shadiness, but I'm sure it happens there too, unfortunately...
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Shane WOULD dump, but it's not as far-fetched as you would imply.

I’m not looking to blame anyone for anything

I agree with you there’s business, that’s part of pool. It’s never going away.

It’s part of action, deal with it and bet accordingly or don’t bet. There’s zero chance to fix it.

Keeping it real

I have a grand total of $100 on Tony now.

So I’m not biased, I hope SVB wakes up and wins a game today before Tony steals it. I’d like to see it go down to the wire-photo finish.

But hey he has no chance 🤣. His Fargo is too low lol.
Lol, according to the all-knowing Mike Page and his precious fargorate formula, one-pocket games are now included in the formula.
I, and many of my 600+ player friends, cringed when he did this for this very reason. It's too specialized to give meaningful data.
But, Tony hasn't won yet btw lol

I never said it was over. You on the other hand said Tony had no chance due to his Fargo and that couldn't be farther from the truth.

Incorrect. I said SVB was the heavy favorite due to his superior overall pool ability (about 50%) better fargorate, according to Mike Page.
Tony always has a chance lol.
Hell, I could even win a few games against these guys and I'm just a lowly shortstop.
