I think the issue is that many people can no longer read an analog micrometer.

Be sure you've Zeroed the dial indicator before you measure.

Go to Harbor Freight and get a digital caliper. About 10 bucks will read in inches and mm.. Not the best but close enough for government work. Always zero before you start...

I think for every one who can’t read that, you will have a dozen who can’t read a vernier micrometer.

Everyone, give Dave a break here. The legal definition of an inch in the US Standard System (and no, Imperial is not nor has ever been a legal system in the US) is 2.54 cm = 25.4 mm. He correctly converted the measurement on the micrometer to mm as requested.

Since you’re not familiar with how to read your dial caliper, you may not be familiar with how to zero it correctly either.
