NYC Pool Players Developing Olympic Pool Format

There is a pool room near my work. I tried to get a group to go once. In the future I plan to have regular introductions or meets there.
Developing an intro to pool and social mixer has been on my radar for awhile.

I am living in a major city in USA. There are so many people who dont know what billiards or pool is. Not everyone is exposed to pool or billiards. I meet a lot of those people.
Unlike small towns which can force people to participate in pool, big cities have to compete for a persons free time.

They have nothing in common whatsoever. Basketball and soccer are highly skilled games. Football and baseball are less so...like they say, "if you can hit, they'll find a position for you". That's why you see athletes playing both professional baseball and football.

I shoot fast and can't stand slow players, but speed pool has got to be the dumbest thing ever...it's embarrassing for the sport.
You shoot fast AND embarrassing yourself? (just asking)
Curious: Is it embarrassing for tennis?
There are players who lob the ball back & forth & others who FAST SLAM return it.

The other option was to present pool as a great way for women to meet guys without having to worry about stalkers.
There are lots of single women and the dating scene is a disaster. The pool scene is not dating focused, women can assess a man's personality easily during a pool match.
A poolroom is bachelor hell.

I think this is the first thing you've ever said I agree with. I can tell a lot about a person by how they display themselves around a pool table. It usually takes more then one time. But first impressions are generally correct.
We can tell a lot about someone by how much of a jackwagon they are on internet forums too.
I never went to the pool room looking for girls. That’s the last thing o wanted as a distraction. I was there to play, proactive, gamble. Zero interest in girls. When I wanted to meet a girl-the last place I’d go is the pool room.
Sounds like a win for women. Women get hit on in public spaces in the worst ways.
The pool room is a neutral zone for unwanted male attention.

Speed pool is where they run around the table in a frenzy to clear the table. Actually, the way to be fast is to not run around the table but to leave shots right where you are standing already. When I do speed pool I am not actually moving that much or that fast.
I watch speed pool, I know what goes on.
You might not know this but I was responding to post #1 with a suggestion.
I really don't care that you HATE slow players, that's your issue. Start your own thread about that.

I think you should start your next gig as a wedding planner.
Trust me, weddings are great places to meet single women.
Much better than a pool hall.
Weddings are where women that didnt get picked go to get hit on. In sports terms the wedding has its star and then all the people that didnt make the cut.
You do understand I am trying to create a myth that the pool room is a better social
scene. It has regulars and a wide range age group. Its easy to do scouting if you know the right people.
In my world there are shooters and people waiting to be shot. At the pool room its easy to see who is who.
