From time to time, I get these stringy things coming out

It may be the glue that was used when it was made. The cue was cored and expanding glue was used. If Epoxy was used, it would have dried. Glues need air to dry, once the cue was put together, it had no air and good chance it never dried. Since it's an expanding glue, it's now doing just that. I may be wrong, enlighten me.

The cue looks like cocobolo. Very oily wood. Requires extra care when finishing. Since it just started this after the refinish, it could be related to the finish.

I recently had that specific part of the cue refinished. Could it be that?

What type of finish is it? Polyurethane?

Am I seeing a scuff mark on the cue, right above everyone of those stringy snot boogers? If so, maybe you scraping some of the new finish off, on the top of your pockets. Or, maybe not.......hard to say.
