Reminds me of a VNEA tournament in Vegas or Reno, where Shane's Mom was called out for a dress code violation. I think it might have been that too much leg was visible. The solution that she and the team came up with was to tear apart a top and wear it around her waist so they could play the match.
The end result was much less "dressy" than the violation.

I find it hard to believe that someone at the tournament said anything about his shoes. It was, more then likely, just some blowhard on Facebook flapping his cock holster.

Here in USA there are only a handful of made to measure boot/shoe cobblers, and while they're all top notch, they really don't compare to Japan's attention to detail. If I recall correctly you mentioned that you live in Cali, in LA you can find Role Club (Brian the bootmaker), who does made to measure boots/shoes at a very high level.

Louis Vuitton are one of the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. I wear an older pair that I don't care about almost every day lol. A lot of the other high end brands could learn something from LVThose are very nice! I’m going to look into them. Bespoke shoes are my new bad habit.
I have wore LV shoes on and off for 30 years. They are very well made. I agree with you 100%. Last couple years Gucci has improved their shoes-they were horrible before imo. Now I’m wearing them the most often. I like good shoes.
