OLD man newbie question - I've been around and used leather off and on and sometime professionally for about 60 years - I have some nice, THICK, vegetable tan, skirting leather, tooling leather whatever term you wish to use and been looking at a lot of the threads about tips - Anyone ever try making tips using the leather I mentioned that has been saturated with Super Glue? SORRY if this was a bother!!

Biz card holder I made maaaaaany years ago with my silver work & engraving.

Nice card holder. I’m not a cue maker but why don’t you simply try what you are asking. Answer your own question. As for calling yourself Old… you’re just getting warmed up. Playing pool at 71 you still got it. Welcome aboard.

Yes, I have one on my break cue. It started out as a medium hard single layer tip, then saturated it with very very thin cyno. It works quite well as a break tip.

I soaked a tip with super glue years ago on one of my extra shafts. Seemed to work ok from what I remember

Old Iowian, Howdy;

I was corresponding with L. Bludworth back in 2016-17 and the subject of Hard Tips
came up. This is his answer to me;

Hank,
at one time way way back, I used Le-Pro's. I would soak
them in laquiar thinner over night, then place them in the
oven [pre-heated] for about 15 minutes, at 325 degrees.[
make sure there DRY].. Or you can let them dry out over a
couple days. Sand the back flat, then glue them on. They
wind up being harder than a whores heart. They play great,
but you got to have a really good stroke to keep from
mis-cueing. Also there hard as hell to shape, but keep at
it. Let me know if you need more help.blud

and that what I gots to say about that.

THANKS for the welcome! I live in the woods north of Chariton - So far I have to drive to Osceola to shoot pool as that's the closest - Planning on a trip there today for more frustrating fun!!
