Your choice of cloth

I’m using championship tournament right now for the same reason lol I gave up looking for the blue. It was after the pandemic and everything was winding down and I couldn’t find it so I gave up. I think it shows burn marks too quick but I always thought it played as good as simonis . I used to suggest it when I covered peoples tables because it was quite a bit cheaper. Now it’s just about as expensive as simonis so you might as well get the best.

When I have mine changed next I’ll go for the tournament blue, not just cause I think it’s cool, but it actually makes the table look bigger, probably because of the lighter color.
I have a nine foot GC in green and the first time I played on a nine footer in blue I thought it was a 10 footer. I actually measured it just to make sure it was a nine foot table. I like the ‘bigger’ feel

has anyone tried Proline? If so for any length of time to critique the durability or how it plays?

Eddie
I have Proline (tournament blue) on my 4 x 8 table, it's a year old (installed March 2022) and still plays and looks good, I'm the only one to play on it, but I practice/play every day for a few hours. I chose it over Simonis primarily for the difference in price, it was $275 installed as opposed to Simonis at $575. I did a bit of research and found there didn't seem to be much play difference in the higher level name brand and the others that have been mentioned in this thread. I would imagine Simonis is a better product, but to me it wasn't twice the price better.

Thanks Steve.

I covered the tables in a couple of bars in a small city, one with Simonis and one with Proline. Most players, even the better ones, don't notice much difference.

Which makes you a better player--since more people have problems with delicacy than with power.
Andy cloth, is another one that plays really fast, compared with simonis, and has a strange texture.it's probably, due to the nylon content.

Thanks Sheldon.. I think that's what I'm going with. Certainly more cost-efficient.

What your choice of these cloths. Only using their upper end basalt. CPBA, Championship tour or Gorina. Didn’t mention Simonis cause I know it’s great and you can’t get any tournament blue. Thanks
Tour edition 30 30 is the best cloth imo.
I’ve looked around and have not found any so far. Factory is damaged is shut down til repair.
Billiard wholesale in silvis Illinois call them

Proform is more like Simonis, and stretches almost the same too.
Championship has a LOT more stretch, which make installing it on the rails a bit easier.

@EddieBme I said I had Proline, I believe it may actually be Proform, it is worsted wool and looks like Simonis, sorry about that
Same thing. Proline Proform 505 is the full name of the cloth. They have some variations, but the 505 is the stuff that's most similar to Simonis 860.

Thanks guys for all of the information... certainly helps me to feel comfortable making a decision.

I bought 9' 860 in Slate and 8' 860 in Grey last week, no problem. I don't need them immediately as I just wanted to have it available since I'm moving relatively soon. If either of those helps you out, I'll sell them to you at what I paid for them and simply re-order. PM me if you are in need.

Thanks so much for the offer. Very generous of you. Keep what you have... never know how hard it will be to get in the future. We're learning that. I currently have a 860 Grey on the table. It's ok for now. I do have an 9'Apple Green on hand. Not sure if I'm selling or keeping at this stage. I can handle the color but the room/table calls for Grey, maybe camel, mocha. Good luck with your move.

What color grey, they have three different ones? Grey, Slate, and isn't there a new one, Shark grey?

Grey..... not familiar with Shark Grey. Grey on a black table is a perfect match. Grey is good on the eyes. I haven't sen the Slate Grey

Yes, three greys. The slate, in my opinion, has a hint of purple in it. The other two are simply light grey and dark grey.

I have a black table and loved the grey on it. When I recovered the table in December, I could only get tournament blue so went ahead with that. At the same time, I placed an order for the other greys when the finally came available, which was about a week ago.
