I don't think having Earl in competition more is Good for the field :).

If Earl ever starts swingin' it and catches that ''Gear'' & Smooths out the way I've seen em in his prime, he'll shakeup the playfield.
Only player I've seen out there when rollin' in their highest gear is Shaw/period.

A prime Earl....
It's liking watchin' Soufi.... but allot easier/smoother/simple, and the rack will take 20 more seconds. :)

If the event's flow chart is correct, Strickland just squeaked by Alan Rolon Rosado at the Super Billiards Expo, winning 3 sets to 2 in nearly 4 hours. His next match (quarterfinals) will be against Pinegar this evening.

I couldn't find the results on their site. The schedule says tonight is the final 4.

I'm thinkin' Many Events will help, providing his framework holds up.
Can't hurt.
Your having a bad day, you got Earl on deck, you pray he does more than 2 poor shots in a race to 11.

Yeah, he's not the dominant player he once was, but it's probably the rest of the field getting better as much as it is him slowing down. He still won't give anyone many chances.

Yeah Father Time is brutal to all sports figures from Ali, Willie Mays and all the way down to Strickland. Buddy always said that Wimpy was the greatest 9 ball player who ever lived, but I can't imagine anyone then or now who could beat Strickland in high gear in the early 90's. Actually considering everything Earl still plays ok at his current age, but just a shell of what he once was unfortunately. Those of us old enough to remember know what I'm talking about.

And Pinegar defeated Strickland 5-4, 5-3, 5-1. The semifinal matches, going on right now, are Shaw vs. Pinegar and Morra vs. Souto. Finals tomorrow (Sunday).

hennessee making strides, maybe team USA will have both earl and pinegar at the MC (and a JJs hair will have gone completely grey by the end of it)

He couldn't even keep his misses to two balls per set in the races to five at the Mosconi. Everybody concedes that Earl can find the old magic every now and then and beat anyone. He's a 774 Fargo, not a banger. A 774 Fargo makes him the 96th best player in the world. He's not a threat to win any event of significance. I'm not biting. Earl, an undisputed, all-time great, is neither one of the elite nor anything close to it.
 
True, but if he plays ''more'' I think he will be much tougher to beat.

He's now able to somewhat set a schedule to ''bark'' more.

Wouldn't be surprised if his Fargo increases slightly. From 774-790

Age is creepin' in and the ''man in the mirror'' is not 1980's Earl.
But he's still barkin'.
Is there any 61 year old 9 ball player on the planet that can beat on Earl?

Sadly unfortunately have to agree about Earl's current playing status. I find it interesting though that some time ago Mike Le Bron won the US Open I believe at 57 years old and everyone was amazed at that during that time. I maintain that Earl at 61 probably plays better than 'Spanish Mike' did at the time but the competition is much stiffer these days than it was back then.

On a 10' table in his prime, I doubt anyone could have taken Earl. All barking aside, he is certainly one of the best to ever do it.
