Neil Robertson breezed into the second round of the 2023 World Snooker Championship at the Crucible with a 10-3 win over Wu Yize. It was a performance that made a big impression on Eurosport experts Jimmy White and Alan McManus, who believe Robertson's pre-tournament preparations can only help him as the event progresses in Sheffield. In the last minute rush before it started and then the Grand National horse race I put a buck on some players for the highest break , looked at Neil and passed him up then he just goes and knocks in 2 x 146 breaks ! ;)(y)

Grand National winner Corach Rambler in the bag it was off to the golf seeking US Masters compensation where one minute all my golfers were in contention then came the storem that blew down 3 trees and blew away my selections .

Jordan Speith 2 shots clear last few holes had the chance to make it a brilliant weekend but could not hole the putts and lost out to Matt Fitzpatrick in the play off but there is cash ammo to play with Da' Bookie at the snooker ! ;):ninja::sneaky:(y)

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP: HOSSEIN VAFAEI SETS UP RONNIE O'SULLIVAN SHOWDOWN AFTER FINE DISPLAY TO BEAT DING JUNHUI

Hossein Vafaei started the session with breaks of 117 and 122 and came back from 5-4 down to beat China's Ding Junhui 10-6 in one of the most impressive performances seen so far at this year's World Championship in Sheffield. Vafaei had never won a match at the Crucible before this year, but he will be one to watch after a flawless performance to set up a meeting with Ronnie O'Sullivan. :

HOSSEIN VAFAEI UNDER SCRUTINY FOR ‘INSULT’ 147 DECISION AGAINST DING JUNHUI AT WORLD SNOOKER CHAMPIONSHIP 2023

Hossein Vafaei was in resplendent form as he took on Ding Junhui in the first round of the World Championship. He trailed 5-4 ahead of the concluding session, but made a blistering start, winning the first three frames with runs of 117, 122 and 68. However, when on for a 147 in the next frame he took on an “unwise” shot that Neal Foulds suggested could have represented an “insult” to Ding. :

JUDD TRUMP 'QUIETLY CONFIDENT' ABOUT WORLD SNOOKER CHAMPIONSHIP 2023 CHANCES - 'NO ONE EXPECTS ME TO WIN'

Judd Trump says “it’s nice to be going under the radar” going into this year’s World Snooker Championship after a mixed season. Trump faces Anthony McGill on Tuesday in the opening round, having not played competitive snooker for a month due to not qualifying for the Tour Championship at the end of March. The Ace in the Pack thinks there is “no pressure” on him. :

RONNIE O'SULLIVAN ON HOW HE HANDLES ILLNESS DURING WORLD SNOOKER CHAMPIONSHIP 2023 – 'A LOT CAN GO WRONG FOR YOU'

Ronnie O'Sullivan admits you have to be an expert in trying to stay healthy at the World Championship as much maintaining peak form over the 17-day sporting stress test. The seven-time Crucible winner headed for a period of recuperation after struggling with a virus during a 10-7 win over Pang Junxu in the first round on Saturday night. "There is a lot that can go wrong for you," he said. :

WORLD SNOOKER CHAMPIONSHIP 2023: LATEST SCORES, RESULTS, SCHEDULE, ORDER OF PLAY AS RONNIE O'SULLIVAN EYES EIGHTH TITLE

It's April, and that only means one thing in the world of snooker - the Crucible. The sport's biggest names are set to jostle for the coveted World Snooker Championship title, and there are multiple sub-plots at play. Can Ronnie O'Sullivan win a record eighth title? Or can the in-form Shaun Murphy land his first world crown since 2005? Can a big name take their season to the next level? :

sticking with williams and murphy e/w, but vafei has way too high odds for his capabilities. i'm acquainted with his former sparring partner and he has testified to vafeis mental fortitude. he has already beaten ronnie, selby, etc. two other qualifiers that impressed me were slessor and mcgill. looking at the draw i think all three of them win their first matches
Good call on Vafei as he just knocked out Ding so yet again Ding Junhui flatters to deceive and the 80/1 about Hossein Vafaei has shrunk to 33/1 and his next oppenent is Ronnie O'Sullivan.....

World Championship Snooker best bets: Saturday April 22

Anthony McGill to beat Jack Lisowski

Robert Milkins to beat Si Jiahui

Anthony McGill and Robert Milkins win double :

First week at The Crucible well the class of 1992 got passed the first round again but Shaun Murphy the form player got knocked out by Si Jiahui I bet Shaun regrets his comments about Si when he got knocked out when Si was an amateur and Shaun said he shouldn't be in the same building , same as I regret putting money on Shaun to win the worlds this year , add in a tiddler e/w last chance bet on Ding Junhui lol !

Shaun 3-1 Si so it started with 31p Shaun to win the next frame he lost it , £7 to win the next frame he lost it , £10 to win the next frame he lost it so all in £27 to win the next frame he lost it so £10 to win the last frame of the session but I had no money left in the account haha !:D

Did you see the frame Shaun was in for the clearance but went in off after potting the yellow then si missed the yellow into the middle so Shaun pots the yellow only to pot the green and go in off again . You dont want to know what swearie words I was calling Shaun thinking WTF are you trying to do to me and the next thing there was no money in the account to place a bet and he did win the last frame of that session .

Si Jiahui didnt look like a first season debutant pro , I thought he played brilliant even though he cost me my dough !

JIMMY WHITE, ALAN MCMANUS FEEL HOSSEIN VAFAEI 'NOT DONE YET' BUT NEEDS TO CUT OUT 'NONSENSE' AGAINST RONNIE O'SULLIVAN

Hossein Vafaei was the talk of the Crucible for his outspoken criticism of Ronnie O'Sullivan leading into their second-round clash at the 2023 World Snooker Championship. The Iranian was the talk of Sheffield's snooker followers at the start of the second frame after smashing the pack with his break. Eurosport experts Alan McManus and Jimmy White were not impressed. :

RONNIE O’SULLIVAN DOMINATES FIRST SESSION OF GRUDGE MATCH AS HOSSEIN VAFAEI FALLS FLAT AT WORLD SNOOKER CHAMPIONSHIP

There was a lot of anticipation leading up to the second-round clash between Ronnie O'Sullivan and Hossein Vafaei at the World Snooker Championship. That was of little surprise given the verbal attack Vafaei made on his opponent earlier in the week. O'Sullivan came out totally focused and dominated his opponent to secure a commanding lead going into day two. :

'AN ACT OF SELF-SABOTAGE' - HOSSEIN VAFAEI'S WILD BREAK GIFTS FRAME TO RONNIE O'SULLIVAN AT WORLD SNOOKER CHAMPIONSHIP

There was great deal of anticipation at the Crucible Theatre on Friday afternoon, as Hossein Vafaei and Ronnie O'Sullivan prepared to do battle in the second round of the World Championship. The build-up had seen Vafaei launch an extraordinary attack on O'Sullivan, and the Iranian appeared somewhat hyped at the start of the match as he played a wild break. :

WORLD SNOOKER CHAMPIONSHIP 2023: LUCA BRECEL HOLDS NERVE TO SEE OFF MARK WILLIAMS CHALLENGE AND BOOK QUARTER-FINAL SPOT

Luca Brecel was in danger of becoming a forgotten man of the Crucible after losing in the first round on five previous occasions. He broke his duck with victory over Ricky Walden and followed up with a notable win over three-time World Snooker Championship winner Mark Williams. The Belgian deserves great credit for fending off a Williams fightback. :
