Sometimes a good suggestion would be to voice record your thoughts, and then play them back so you can hear them. If they sound absurd to your ears, you can bet they will sound absurd to others as well. YMMV.

I was thinking a flat surface at the rear of the pocket to increase chance of return.

The purpose of equipment variation is to explore different physical concepts and identify any interesting situations. Situations to increase difficulty.

There is a lot of documentation on what cue ball is used for. I know what a cueball is used for.

I have always been interesting in developing an original pool show routine.

Talking about engineering during shooting would be part of my routine.
