Another question for the English gurus.

Here and now I'm at a job. I can schedule a Zoom at my local hall while you work to schedule the same time at the Old Folks' Home.

Where exactly is your local hall. I called 3 places in the Gainesville area and none of them knew who you are. What a surprise.

Hi Spanx,

I thought that Hogwarts only allows you 15 minutes per day on the Interwebs, as you wrote. How can you be posting so often today?

My local hall is Zoom. I can visit one of the rooms here or visit a friend at their home, to setup a Zoom, shoot some of the same table layouts you will shoot on the same Zoom, live, and then we can debate, showing your towering intellectual prowess in our sport.

In or out? Zoom up or shut up? If you persist, I can make a singing video for you and post it here. BD adores his personal video!

PS. I can also schedule a personal call with U.S. Open Winner and Six-Time Florida Pro of the Year, Tom Kennedy--you know--the co-teacher of our Pool Clinic in July. You can tell him what you think of me and gauge his response.

You are a forum troll and you will not take me up on the Zoom challenge. Prove me wrong!

I see the Talented Mr. Sherman is still at play. I imagine he's pretty frustrated that his routine isn't fooling many on here anymore. It was fun for a while but I'm getting a pretty creepy vibe from him now so I'm keeping my distance.

(Ignore function works pretty good).

Here's a novel idea. How about getting TK to come on here and explain "backwards english" for us seeing as you are unable to do so.
Maybe he could also list his 200 "Professional" tournament wins. Another one of your incorrect statements.

Before you start, that's not a knock on him, it's just a simple fact like most everything I post.

Your friend, ??? Whatever name you're calling me today.

You are knocking him! It's from his own publicity. He's won 200 tournaments, he's been a pool pro for decades without other income. He puts bread on his family's table winning professional billiards tournaments. AND he refuses to gamble, even in Calcutta betting at tournaments, because of his strong faith--a person so sincere and strong that he is typically allowed to be the head referree at tournaments where he competes!

So! Are you taking my Zoom challenge or not? I predict . . . not. Prove me wrong.

You're getting a "nasty vibe" from me after saying nasty things about my teaching and my family for several weeks now?

I used to support your posts here for years, and we never had a bad turn ever at AZ until you snapped (and I don't mean the 9-ball on the break). So I feel like this video will cheer you, enjoy:

Oh well. I was going to say that OP's writing reminds me of the 'Every Pocket is Bottomless' blog. If that's you, more please!

But it looks like the thread's past that now...

Here we are again. So now it's 200 tournaments instead of 200 "Professional" tournaments as you originally stated. Just a little word slip once again?

Keep making incorrect statements and I will continue to hang you with your own words.

As for the zoom, it's not allowed at the library and on top of that I don't even play pool. Imagine, a world class instructor getting smacked around by someone who doesn't even play.

Have a nice day, your friend, SpongeBob

Well double o, all I can say is, if he's married I hope his wife has a good job because if they have to survive on his pool earnings they better be on a starvation diet.

Before you stick foot in mouth again, realize that it's very easy to check his pool earnings going back 30 years.

I'm beginning to think I need to stay off the internet. Down at the library again, can't pass up the free internet you know. Maybe I'm just unlucky but I keep coming across these little tidbits that cause me to start questioning things I thought I knew about pool.

So today's dilemma concerns parallel vs pivot english. A world renowned instructor ( great singer also, btw) said that with parallel english the center of the cue tip hits the CB but with pivot english the edge of the tip hits the CB.

I read that and it kinda just knocked me for a loop. How could I be so wrong. I was under the impression that because the tip is somewhat rounded and the CB is a sphere then if you hit it off center (however) then a part of the edge of the tip has to contact the CB.

At first I thought well maybe he's wrong but I quickly came to my senses. You just can't question this guy's assertions. I mean he's been on TV and everything.

So that's where I'm at right now and I'm frazzled. The worst part is that I get very agitated because it upsets me when I'm wrong and lately the librarian has been looking at me a little strangely. If I get thrown out I'll have no where to go for internet.

Oh well, I might be better off.
Can you define your understanding of parallel english?

Can you define your understanding of parallel english?

Don't have a clue, I don't play pool. All I can do is refer you to the above post that you referenced. Check paragraph three.

I don't know or care if you use parallel, pivot, backhand, front hand, or maybe even backwards english.

My point is very clear, if the tip contacts the CB off center to either side then it's some part of the edge of the tip that makes contact with the CB not the center.

Thx, I just never heard this terminology before. In life (example) I've learned when I say RED to anyone, we all have a different thought of Red.
Below is your comment....
''if the tip contacts the CB off center to either side then it's some part of the edge of the tip that makes contact with the CB not the center''

Your below statement I can answer... it's almost 100% true.
The center of the (leather) tip contact lessens as more outside tip contact/cueing is applied.

In other words.... 1/4 tip off center has less center tip contact, than 1 tip off center.
With one tip off center, the center of the tip contact is very minimal, but will increase due to (leather) tip compression when swing speed is increased.

Hey Spongiform,

Your reading comprehension is atrocious. Here's what I wrote above:

"He's won 200 tournaments
, he's been a pool pro for decades without other income. He puts bread on his family's table winning professional billiards tournaments."

Tom on his own publicity--and that's going back ten years ago, by the way, beat other professionals to win it all 200 times.
