Tried many searches but found nothing so just going to post it. What ball set is this with the serif font? Played as one of the best ball sets I've had on a really sound setup table with good rails and recent Simonis felt. 1st edition Centennial set?

We’ve got Aramiths that look like that…they might be older but top class.

I could be wrong, but they look like inexpensive Asian made balls that often come with low priced tables.

While those may be Aramiths, you can get a look-alike Chinese set for under $50. They used to be $30 delivered to your house. They came in a box that used an old Aramith design. Currently Aramith will come in a fancier shrink wrapped box with the Aramith logo on the shrink wrap.

The colors on the Chinese set I got were slightly different especially the reds and oranges.

Thanks everyone. They really do play well on very good condition simonis. The set had an Aramith Tournament black logo cue ball, which was also very nice. Does the Tournament cue ball and ball set play that much better than the super aramith pro ones?

Apparently my mistake. If you had included the cue ball with the logo, I’m guessing I might have known.

I have a set of the Premiums and a set of the Tournament Edition. I haven't noticed any difference in play. But the Tournament Edition are definitely more durable as advertised. I've been playing straight pool on a 1920's wood ball return table. 40 matches to 125, 2/3 premium and 1/3 tournament. I see some small chips in 2 balls of the Premium set. And nothing on the Tournament set.

Thanks. It looks like the order of price / quality goes (highest to lowest):
  1. Tournament
  2. Pro
  3. Premium

I had the Pro Aramiths in California. When we moved to Vegas, I bought a set of the tournaments. They do seem more durable and I think they play better. Bob Jewett always took his tournament set to the pool room when we played in San Ramon. I think the tournaments are the best as far as Aramith goes.

I found a new sealed tournament traditional colors (hate the TV set colors) set for $350 on ebay from Brannon Tommey. Great price and it has the black logo cue ball, which I really like playing with, and it should be arriving soon via USPS priority mail.

DJ, I've played at that San Ramon pool hall multiple times as I grew up in Danville and my parents still live in Blackhawk. Good hall and always good to see active leagues there (I use to play APA as a 7/8) and I think that is an APA site. Recently rejoined BCA after I played years ago in OR way before fargo ratings, and fargo rate has me at a 544 with only 27 robustness (I've played many more matches but for some reason they are not being reported). Like the BCA format better but have lots of friends in APA, both in the Redmond, WA area. I really don't like what happens with APA teams when the team gets top heavy and you have to break up the team. What halls in the Bay Area are BCA?

Additionally in high school I used to work at the Great Entertainer in Concord, WA. I think they had 25 gold crown III tables with the gold simonis felt, plus two 3 rail tables and a 10 foot snooker table. Was sad to hear they closed down that site years ago but it later reopened in San Mateo, CA - https://www.yelp.com/biz/the-great-entertainer-san-mateo.
