Hello All! I play in a golf game a couple of times a week with a group of old retired guys. They all play pretty good and I’m winning more than losing but was hoping some of you that play the game can pass on some tips, advice or whatever! I know all the in’s and outs but how about some of the things that you consider the most important to become a top notch, hard to beat golf player.
Thanks in advance!

Have three cues. A driver for long shots, a wedge for jump shots, and a putter for everything else.

Our senior rec center had a golf game on the 5×10 snooker table. I would often visit for the congenial competition. There was a 5×10 snooker table in Chico that I watched 2 players play golf for $20. The first shooter ran 6 holes. Shooter 2 paid up and went first for the second game. He ran 6 as well. At even they went to the bar and exchanged stories.

Same as pool, learn how to hustle and haggle. Ask for strokes on certain holes or holes for the entire nine or eighteen depending on whether it's match or medal play. Make them out to be the better player and you the inferior one who needs help. If you're playing match play, lose the first two holes on purpose so you can take a "press bet" which will give you seven holes to come back and win the original bet plus the press. Do the same with other players with a "match of cards" at the end of each nine and the full eighteen holes called a Nassau bet. Every once in a while, lose and lose to more than one player. You can set them up for bigger and better bets down the road to keep them going.
Aside from that if it's to play better, see your PGA Pro and take some lessons, long game and especially the short game of chipping, pitching, putting, and sand play.
All of the above info comes from my brother who is the golfer of the family and is always setting up bets with a large group of guys.

The first hole being a bank, correct?

I have no idea what the rules of this game are.

One observation though- the table seems unbelievably fast. I know this is the snooker table at Hard Times Bellflower and saw people playing this game, but have no idea what the objective is

When I was in my mid 20's I was living Jackson, MS. I had played quite a bit of snooker and was full of piss and vinegar like a lot of people that age. I discovered a small ancient pool hall downtown on Capital street. There were some "old timers" playing golf on a snooker table that looked like it was probably from the 1800's. I had never played golf but the game looked simple enough.
After a few days of expensive lessons I determined it was best to stick with what I was familiar with.

HEADS UP GOLF IS AN AWESOME GAME....
Rings games also a lot of fun....
a lot of strategy needed to win a the ring games.
I play both, and win at both ....
Patience needed in the ring game because you are trying to get your ball in position,
also, when opponents get in position,
they HAVE TO BE TAKEN CARE OF,
OR ELSE, THEY WIN, AND YOU DON'T.
Like 1 pocket, you have to play "cue ball only" shot, with no regard for your balls position...
to give another player a shot to move a player in the lead at that time of your shooting"

All the above + KNOW THE RULES. Every place has it's own rule set. In Canada each player uses his own "matching" cue ball. 1-9, 2-10, 3-11, 4-12 etc with the solid being the cueball. Plus we go twice around (12 holes).

There was 8-10 guys who played golf at the room I hung out while growing up. For 20 years there was game every single day. I forgot how boring it was until I watched that video.

Do you guys play on a regulation snooker table or some gaffed crap like most in the US.

In Tulsa, @ Magoos Pool Hall,
has 5 x 10 Snooker table- Very tight pockets,
regulation size pool balls though.
Table Rails been modified higher,
to accept the bigger pool balls, versus smaller size snooker balls"
