Women's 14.1 High Run Competition for Cancer Awareness

I wouldn't sweat your comment at all. If we can't talk about pool players capabilities here, then where can we? Yes it's a charitable-type event here but we are talking about a high-run challenge.

I figured my o/u was high. I would have taken the under. Maybe 50 or 45ish was the correct line.
It’s still a fair guess whatever the outcome is. The conditions are ideal so the balls will spread better than normal and the pocket will receive more errant shots. It’s fair to add on a rack or two (or more depending on the caliber of player) above and beyond what they should normally expect under typical pool room conditions.

She's gotta be mid 60s. But if her right arm is still attached somewhere in the vicinity of her upper torso, I'd bet she could still run 50.
Jean Balukas was the greatest. Her stroke was very powerful and competed in many Mens events and beat many World Champions. She knew 14 1 well. Would be interesting seeing her play on Simonis with her powerful stroke.

I watched a good portion of yesterday but I wasn't able to watch until the end. Did Emily get higher than the 35 ball run?

I tuned in for a little bit on day one. Her 35 was right out of the game, wasn't it? I'm surprised that she didn't do better after that, considering that she had a chance to get down the speed of the table and some of the 14.1 concepts.

Only speaking for myself, but I find my best high run attempts are often my first few or my last one lol. It’s not surprising if she may have had a decline in focus and confidence as it wore on.

Let me also say that we are doing our best to make all players comfortable with what we are doing.

Some are unfamiliar with Bobby’s bona fides and question whether this is the real deal. It is — Bobby’s end of this is not only selfless but solid gold. And, we would be honored to have Jean participate if she would decide to do so.

I saw Jean playing straight pool in her prime up close on many occasions from 1976-88. Jean retired about 35 years ago. Kevin Trudeau's IPT offered her a guaranteed $30,000 to come out of retirement in 2006 for one event, and it wasn't enough. As many know, Jean hasn't even been around pool for years, as her family's room, Hall of Fame Billiards in Brooklyn, New York closed years ago. Why would she consider a return now?

By the way, anyone who thinks Jean played head and shoulders above Jeanette Lee and Jasmin Ouschan in their respective primes in straight pool is mistaken. In 1999, Jeanette played in a straight pool event and beat each of Johnny Ervolino and Dallas West, making a big run in each game. Jasmin won a bronze medal in a Men's sanctioned WPA World Straight Pool Championship (?2008?) and, similarly, beat a who's who of straight pool talent along the way. Jean's speed in straight pool was similar to that of Jeanette and Jasmin. Jean played better 9ball than both, however. There's simply no denying that Jean, a world class athlete, had the stroke of a man.
