2023 China Open 9 Ball (7-10 September), Shanghai. Winner $40K

Ko Pin Yi V Orcollo (Losers side match)
Ko breaks dry. Orcollo comes to table can see lowest ball but does not take shot, pass it to Ko.
What was that about? Someone please enlighten this pool noob
I guess they are playing the three point rule. Only one ball behind the line.

What an elite Final 32! This will be a very difficult event to win.

Let's see who navigates their way through this minefield of world class talent.

No, it's not on DAZN. Post #1 above mentions a Billiards Capital channel on YouTube. I know nothing about it.

The murderers' row is bottom quadrant with 7 x800s out of 8 players (The 8th player Xue Zhenqi is 800s but his robustness is only 200+). FSR, Filler, Chang JL, He, Kazakis, Alcaide, Lechner and Xue all fighting for just 1 semifinal spot. To win title, they have to be on a roll play like 850+ and consecutively take down 5x800s in a row. Recent major winners win their major beating 3 to 4x800s (usually non-consecutively) . So it's a tall order for these 8 and I won't be surprised if one of these 8 do not win the title :ROFLMAO:

i would say the top half is tougher now. filler has an easier way to the final than raga or carlo

A lot of great players and great match ups coming, but hard to get excited about the format and the production/ watchabilty of this tournament

sets are fairly long and the tables tough so the cream rises to the top even in this format. but the break is too easy. it's possible the outliers (the swiss guy and the mongolian) in L32 wouldn't got there with a harder break rule.

Thanks for links.
Great comeback by Biado to take down Albin hill hill 11-10. He was down something like 5-9. On hill 10-9, Albin missed 7 ball to win the match and that was all she wrote

The quarterfinalists made up mostly of those who have not won major - Mario He, Wu Kun Lin, Liu Haitao, Luong, Anton Raga.
Only 3 major winner in the last 8- Filler, Biado, Wojciech
We could see a consecutive 3rd first time major winner after wins by Dang in Spanish Open and Alcaide in European Open (y)

has raga been a finalist in china open? i remember him with a mullet playing there before the pandemic

raga vs filler rematch looking more and more likely. filler made short work of mario and raga is leading big over haitao

wu kun lin beat biado in the end. could've gone either way

semis will be:

wu kun vs raga
wojciech vs filler

Over the past fifteen years, just two active women have won three WPA World 9-ball Championships. That would be Shasha Liu and Han Yu. They'll meet in the final of the 2023 China Open. By any measure but Fargo, Han Yu was the player of the last decade, winning three world 9-ball championships, but this will surely be a tough assignment.
