Balabushka cues made in japan ! are they any good and worth the money ?

The new ones with signature are made in Taiwan for the Balabushka Cue Company. I've shot with one, and it was excellent.

The new ones without signature... I believe those are made in China by Universal. I expect these to be good, but have not seen one in hand.
I thought the new Balabushka's were made in China?

No. Taiwan since 2011. They were made in China before that since about 1995-7. They were made in Japan before that.

You know… I don’t see why anyone wouldn’t just buy these cues or similar. More than likely made in China. Small chance that it was made in Taiwan. But if it’s like any of the other vintages from Adam Japan/Competition Sports, it should be fine.

Many of these are from ~2002-2010, new old stock when Competition Sports was sold. I think you should let us know ;)

Bringing this back up to say thanx to Cornerman.
My better half bought me the lower cue to celebrate my 25th booze free anniversary.

It hits a lot like my Huebler. Stiff & solid.
Not a pro taper with “shoulders” but a straight taper ( conical?”)
Fit and finish is great.

It’s a looker too.
Thanks!

25th booze free?!?!?! Fuck yeah! Congratulations!

I've been looking for an Adam Bushka for a while (the old stock eBay ones as posted on here) and ironically, my 6th year sober is around the corner and I was saving up to splurge ($400usd is a massive amount for me) but life happens, lol.

Hopefully I'll have enough for one when I hit my 25th year!

Honestly, congrats. You fucking earned it

Thanks bud, really means a lot!
I’m 67 and the son of depression era parents, so I understand about the money.

Then again 6 years is something to celebrate. Hell, another day is something to celebrate :)
Besides if you wait another 19 years they’ll all be gone :)

I am looking for a NEW(or possibly used), old school "traditional style" cue with the color veneer points, etc and i looked at the Japan Balabushka's ($600 to $1350). They look really nice on a computer screen but that doesn't mean much. Does anyone have info on them or maybe another manufacturer?
I have an Japan GB 5 without the huge signature, these were early examples mid '90's I believe. I never liked the guady signature myself. It's a great shooter.

It baffles me how people spend money on these production cues that will always lose value and certainly dont play as well as lower end custom.

I recommend a second hand Rick Howard cue or similar. If it has "battle scars" you can always send to Scot Sherbine a proficient billiards for a refinish for 100-150, and have practically a new cue.

A high end production cue will play just as good as a custom but will lose value faster.
Just my opinion having owned both.
Currently I think my Lucasi and Scmelke play just as good as my Philippi for a lot less money.
