What is meant by "Pop" the cue ball?

absofukinglutly.. But now all the experts and detractors are going to come in and explain why CJ is completely wrong.

CJ has to be wrong because he doesn't like me. Besides that, if the stroke matters it would have to be because the contact time between tip and cue ball matters. "We all know" that the contact time isn't relevant.(grin)

Careful around the sacred cows or you will think you are in India!

All that matters is the tip striking the cue ball at the necessary Angle, Spot & Speed (ASS) for the shot. The stroke matters because it’s how we do that.

Ahh, but there are infinite numbers of angles, spots, and speeds that will all execute the same shot to the the accuracy needed to pocket a ball and position a cue ball. If we change the angle we must change the spot we hit the cue ball. If we change the spot we must change the angle to get the same result. Speed will also vary since spot and angle will affect the efficiency of the hit.

Probably different strokes is the preferred filing system for chops. Fran might confirm this; different gestures on piano = different timing/touch/dynamics. Part of the musical performance lattice. Pool is no different in that technique is technique.
