Kamui Carbon Fiber (athlete) Tips

I have never ever been a fan of Kamui Tips. But I do like Medium hardness tips. I decided to try one a few months ago. I will say the Athletic is pretty good. Unlike their other tips. I have had no mushrooming or issues with the tip. Under a magnifier the layers are perfectly even and consistent. I'll give them two thumbs up, and that's saying a lot from me since I was not a Kamui Fan.

Also this tip nor any other is going to raise your game by 2 balls. But I wanted to put this out there for anyone wanting to try one.

They are consistent and worth it. I’ve put on about 9 this year on my cues and they are consistent from tip to tip. I’ve used lepros and I’ve had to take off 3-4 tips to find a good one. I haven’t had the need to do that with a layered tip
From your point of view layered tips make sense.

Nice post your absolutely right, Why does everything have to be about the latest equipment!!
two balls better is some claim, don't believe the hype. it's just the latest thing to hit the market.
Thay are so special, there just for Carbon fibre.come on man, seriously!!
I have a 2 year old Tiger Everest on an old wood shaft, I suppose it may have been state of the art at one time. I have tried several carbon shafts, cant say I liked the way any of them hit so far although that could be due to the propensity of so many to use super soft and soft tips.

I used LePros for about 5 years, 20+ years ago. When you found a good Le Pro it was golden. The issue with LePro's is i had to go through 3-4 of them to find a good one. Sometimes i would put one on, Hit a few balls then pull that rip off that tip and put a new one on. Sometimes i would say it might be useable and it would last for a week.

At the time i went to Moori and they were top of the line back then. Fast forward 20+ years my stock of Moori's was gone and i tried the newer Moori's and it was crap. I tried Kamui and it seems fine.

Love Sniper on CF shafts.
However I recently (as in about 6 months ago) started using the G2 soft on the 12.4 Revo and the medium on the 11.8.
Fantastic stuff.
For me....so far...the best tip. The feel, grip, action - all of it - is so great.
Especially like the soft. But they're bot - for me - head and shoulders above the rest.
Genuine G2's are very good tips. 👍

At least you got hold of one to see for your self. thanks for the review.

I actually like the Athletic tip once you shape it down a few layers. I will say it hold taom V10 chalk amazing well... I have no complaints about it once you break it in. I did have to shave it once after a few weeks.

I know an installer who has some of these for like 45$ a tip installed and I am wondering if anyone has tried them?

He says someone he knows claims they brought their game up 2 balls but I am skeptical.

He only has the mediums right now.

EDIT: I suppose these are called athlete tips and are designed for a carbon fiber cue.

I got one, if you like a harder tip it's good. I'm not a fan of the hit however myself but I play with a soft tip. I put one on my Predator Z3 shaft to try it out.

I pay $2.00 and $12 install for a LePro or Triangle tip at a Billiards store.
Not a layered tip but they are a waste of money.
Says you. Le pro and triangle are trash to me so I’ll pay a little more captain cheap skate lol

I tried it after using being an avid user of black clear SS, my first impression, I didn’t like it.. It felt really “spongy” to me.. After about a couple days I started noticing how much more action I was getting on the cue ball (especially draw) and I couldn’t really tell if it was me or the tip at first until I switched back to the SS.. Now I was the athlete back on my cue lol.. I would days it’s definitely different not sure how it compares to anything other than SS bc that’s all I’ve used but it really gets a ton of action on the cue ball

I read that the Kamui Athlete tip was designed for CF shafts, I needed a new tip and Dan Dishaw had one in stock so I gave it a try, I too was not a fan of the Kamui tips, this layered tip had spongy layers on the first layers and then more medium layers near the pad, I played it for a week and really liked the action I was getting from the cue ball, 2 days ago pulled out the shaft with the Sniper tip, I played it for about a half an hour and put the shaft with the athlete tip back on, I don't know if it would work on your cue but it plays great on mine, I am marketing a new product called "Sunshine up your kiester" You spray it on your hands and rub it in thoroughly and you will gain 2 balls per rack or if you are already running racks 2 more racks per session, only $14.99 an ounce.

I am guessing that, once upon a time, this site was about promoting pool and encouraging others to grow their game. But, I see fewer and fewer posts from the old guard...too much sunshine?
