Not being nasty at all... Just "calling it" as I see it. Hell I've even lived it.

This happens everywhere. You're not unique in this regard. I know several that attempt to do what you have. Most just change the game to 10b. Has pretty much all that "I shouldn't lose to that guy" rules in place. I also know a few that refuse to play a call shot game. Not from sense of pride or nostalgia, but simply because they're bangers and their style of play lends itself to what can be perceived as lucky play.

I admire excellence, regardless of the endeavor involved. Slop is not excellence. I try to eliminate as much of that as I can when I play. It's better for the game and better for the players.
 
Obvious troll thread. I'll never understand how they get their jollies, taking the time and effort to play the game and keep baiting people, but it happens enough that it must give them some sense of "getting one over" on people. "Look at how many of them are replying to me, hahahah" or some such.

Been that way here for the 15 some-odd years I've used the site. Likely much longer, I expect.

No, I'm saying that the rules in 10b closely mimic how you want to play 9b. Surprisingly enough, 10b was created by the 'luck whiners' coming from 9b. I can't say that's fact, but if you compare the rules and the general complaints about 9b. It lines up pretty nicely...lol.

IMO there are some stupid rules in WPA 10b. "Call safe" for example.

10b is the overwhelming game of choice by the action scene in my area, and I can completely understand why. Who wants to lose thousands on a 'fluke'. Again though, this group of gamblers aren't the upper tier of talent in my area. The top shooters generally don't give a crap about the rule set as it doesn't change their approach.

Add in a scratch on the cue ball the next player gets ball in hand behind the head string in the kitchen. If the lowest number ball(s) behind the head string they go down. If a player makes the 8 ball and scratches the cue ball, the 8 ball gets spotted and ball in hand behind the head string for the next player. If a player makes the 9 ball and scratches the 9 ball gets spotted and the next player has ball in hand behind the head string. Time to bring the kitchen back into the game?
