Jayson Shaw First Contracted Pro on WNT

WTH is your problem? It sounded like you were on the WPA's side of this fight and that's how i responded.
I most certainly did not sound like that. You responded to a post and I merely said I couldn't even respond to the post you responded to. Meaning it was too dumb to respond to.

I don't have a problem

Then let me clarify, too. The fact is that WPA, in partnership with Predator, has had a good track record of late in growing women's pool. I do not agree that Matchroom has a superior track record to them in the area of women's pro pool. I also do not agree with anybody who feels that Matchroom has any obligation at all to oversee/grow the women's pro game.

You said "it's a shame they haven't made any real progress" in women's pool. and I still disagree. That makes it sound as if they are trying but failing to have an impact in the sport of women's pro pool. In truth, it is not what they are trying to accomplish at all.
Ok I guess my wording was misleading, I wasn’t implying they had failed to make progress I was just pointing out they have obviously decided not to take on that sector. Completely understandable from an economical perspective and maybe after the men’s grows they might do.

I just like how Matchroom do things and prefer the commentary on the matchroom streams to the wpa ones
I guess the woman can enter the mens events anyway like Pia often does.

Yes, well said.

I'm more inclined to take a positive view of things. Men's pool is growing and so is women's pool. It's something with which to be pleased.

Wow Chris Melling signs!

So much for the theory that Matchroom are going to stop their players from competing in non-Matchroom events

don't think that was ever the question, but will JOY let him compete in heyball now? doubtful.

the biggest losers so far are the WPA affiliated promoters, especially predator. and that's a pity, because whatever you think of their format, they've done good for pool and created opportunities these last couple of years.

There maybe further news, bigger news coming soon..?

What if. The WPA were to lose Predator as promoters and Heyball as members?

= No more WPA in theory

A compete overhaul and new beginnings for Cue Sports worldwide?

Darren Appleton already commented on what MR will and won’t let players compete in. There’s screenshots in this thread.

The WPA will still be the grand daddy of the national federations.

I've already called what will happen. I just don't know the date in which it will happen. The WPA will be the governing body of the amateur game. ...Or at the very least what all pool players will consider the amateur level.

If the WPA thinks they have any clout with Predator then that will truly represent the last nail in their coffin. Predator will simply side with what they want in their promotions. The very best competing against each other while showcasing their products. Otherwise the "pro" Predator tour will be some sideshow no one will pay attention to. If the WPA are stupid enough to try and enforce play refusals on the Predator sponsored pros who have signed MR agreements, then Pred will simply cut ties. Easy peasy lemon squeezy

more likely they'll back track with the bans. it wasn't an unanimous decision by the WPA to begin with, several members opposed it

I agree.

So why wouldn't the other federations decide to move on as well?

Mutiny on the Bounty

Exactly!
Especially if other federations / partners put their foot down and state.

"Mr President, we believe it is in our best interests to..."

WPA can put all their eggs in women's pool and getting women Olympic recognition.

Now the WPA has open spots to fill they choose to secure known talent, lose time developing new talent or fold and let the organization collapse.

WPA can make big news by doubling down on womens pool, it guarantees Heyball will have international pool players at its events.

Amid all this debate, I am surprised that Matchroom doesn’t have a big early tournament, like tennis With the Aussie. I think they need to fill up the calendar more.

Isn't there already a massive tournament event going on somewhere in the USA in January?

Work with all professional promoters, not step on them!

There is (Derby City). Matchroom does have the Tapei Open this week, but definitely a smaller event. First real big MR event is not until the end of March. Thus a long stretch between the MR US Open and the Spanish Open.

The list goes on:
- Wolford
- Styer
- Grabe
- Bijsterbosch
- Hohmann
- Melling
- Pagulayan
- Fortunski
- Pehlianovic
- Neuhausen
- Feijen
Edit:
- Thorpe
- Kun Li
- Pecelj
- Souquet
