Dr. Dave's first YouTube Short

I've learned so much from your 'standard length' DVD's & continue to replay sections from time to time for reinforcement. It may be a good idea for me to start a log of what I go back to & give you some input on what 'shorts' work for me. I'm not a universal or wide ranging segment sample but; who knows?.

As usual, great job Dr. Dave, 1st outing or not.(y)

Thank you!

I just posted another:

Please view the shorts and click on "Like" to help put them on the pool shorts "radar."

Thanks!

Here's the 3rd. This one was really tough to get under 60 seconds.

Again, please view the videos and click on the thumbs-up "Like" button. Thanks!

you can link your longer videos to the short ones. I wouldn't recommend to try to condens your teaching material into short clips.

My suggestion would be to use the shorts as teaser / advertisement for your longer videos and programs. So no boring teaching but catchy shots or cliffhangers. That get explained in the longer videos (if you were successfull in grabbing one's attention).

So basically the shorts have the function to bring new subscribers to your regular channel.

I think s.th. like this should be your goal at the shorts:

Good idea. I'll work on a DAM intro "short" tomorrow.

feedback, suggestions, or advice
I think you need to let them know who your are in the short....Dr. Dave needs to be in there somewhere...beginning comments.

The peace sign will not have the same meaning to the younger generation....and across the pond if done wrong can be offensive. Perhaps V for "Victory Shots" or something

I also think you need to update your Dr Dave logo.....Should be something like Dr. Dave

Hello Dave , I'm sure you know that there's quite a few folks up here in the Northern hemisphere where t gets cold and snows a lot that enjoy playing pool and may enjoy some tips or suggestions for them even if it's a simple thing like to be sure to allow your pool cue to warm up before playing a game .

I returned home from playing a few racks and it's - 54 below zero with wind chill in the middle of Montana .

… even better, don’t let your cue get that cold in the first place.

dr dave
you do and have contributed so much to pool...for which i have benefitted and am grateful
but i think you are getting carried away
how much attention and pats on the back do you need?
askin for a friend,,,,,,;)

The purpose for the shorts isn’t to “get pats on the back.” It is an attempt to grow my audience, especially with the younger generation who seem to have shorter attention spans.

Nice job. Still too long for a good short, IMO.

You don't have to repeat yourself at the end that doing most of the work while standing up is the most important thing, for example. That is one of the biggest "lessons" from the youtube "pros" who teach making videos. Never repeat yourself (like I just did now!). The viewer notices it and it turns them off.

You actually nearly repeated this statement a third time in the middle when you said pros do this.

Keep only the first of the 3, and 15 seconds can be chopped off, and the video will be better.

Thanks for the feedback. I’ll try to get better at keeping things shorter with no repetition.

Here is the video that taught me this. I found it in my view history from 2 years ago. He has a lot of super good points.

I have a few CNC videos, and editing them was harder than playing pool, ha ha. They are not good...
