Not a big fan of the game as i find it pretty boring to watch. That being said you DO have to give them props for 'comin' with the cash' Pretty impressive:

You better finish pretty high if you want to cover your travel 'nut'. 13-16th get $11,200/ea and with today's stupid prices on EVERYTHING you'd blow that quik on air/room/food/drinks/etc. Since its in China at least you won't be blowing too much on gambling/hookers/coke. ;)

San Francisco/Shanghai flight plus eight nights in a Radisson hotel is under $2000. I think they want your dollars.
Still gotta eat and unless you're a total hermit you're gonna go out some. So whatta you figure for your 'tournament nut'?? 3grand-ish??

The funny thing is, if you can get a translator and go to local restaurants, you can eat 3 meals per day for under 20USD ( and the food is delicious!) If you eat in the hotels only, it's about 25 per meal (and the food is mediocre).

Hookers are a plenty. They knock on the hotel doors of the westerners.

last year this event pissed off some players with the female handicap (softer break rule and female player can nominate the last ball in their suite to be removed). i wonder if they'll change that.

Flushing NY has better talent and they stand on the sidewalk offering massage.

You can look from your car before getting out, way better than strange hotel door opening.

and do you think it's a brilliant idea to write that you teach kids in one thread, including your name, ID card, the name of your employer, and then write this stuff in another thread?

Ive reported crimes on the forum before and have had good results.

Most photos on the net are AI gen.

Are you planning to background check me?

I am trying to help my old friends find jobs. Academic jobs are not easy to find.

ASA had two locations in NYC that is at least 80 humanities and arts faculty jobs. Plus the thousands of students that had visas.

Education news is about student justice.

The ability to network in a crisis post 9-11 and Covid is better. People just have to be active and ensure the account is authentic.

Damnnn.... 4x the US Open

Will we ever have payouts like that in our own continent?
We did. The last IPT was 500k for first, and a fair distribution for the remaining places. The other was 350k first, and same fair distribution.

Really.... the last IPT .... when was that like 17/18 years ago. Only a handful of players actually got paid in full. Trudeau tried...

Does one need an athlete visa for this or can you just go as a tourist? What happens if you win the thing being a tourist?

As Americans you need a visa, mine is good for 8 more years, they're issued for 10 years, its just money, theres nothing to it, also, once your there, it's relatively inexpensive. I would say it's more expensive to go to Disney for 1 week than it is to spend a month in China aside from your flight abroad.

Well you asked. It happened in 2005 and 2006. Bigger payouts than this Heyball event on USA soil. All the players eventually got paid in full about a year later for the final event, to the best of my recollection. Some vendors were never paid though.

Technically your supposed to report your earnings to the US, we are one of only 2 countries that we get double taxed if we live abroad. As citizens, we will always pay the IRS even if we live abroad permanently/forever. Pretty sure you don't need an athlete visa since you wont be living there or staying 60 days +...

I bet Barton has all the answers, he should be AZ's diplomat for all things related to China.

If you wanted to come prior to the tournament, for acclimatization or training or whatever and you didn't already have a visa or reason to be in China, then you would need an invitation letter, which would apply to the relevant visa... and there is a visa relative to sports people/performers which you would need to apply for. I think a tourist visa would also be fine, as you are in country. But if you don't already have this, and if you have no one to invite you, or no reason to be here, you'd be unlikely to obtain one. My friend has just processed his invitation for an upcoming event in Qinhuangdao.

If you win the money as a tourist, you win the money as a tourist. You would be subject to relevant taxation in China, and then also your home country.

They absolutely should, it's next level shithousery (saves a few male egos though I imagine, don't want anyone losing so much face they jump off a bridge). Even when the female is dominating they take the ball, and it is bloody ridiculous.

11k would stretch very far, depending on how you choose to spend your money. Staying in a second/third tier city, you could spend like an idiot and still come back with half of that.
